Siberian Huskies aren’t normally recommended to first time dog owners. Though affectionate and intelligent, they’re notoriously difficult to discipline and need obedience training early on in their life. These dogs have a quench for action and wanderlust, very outdoorsy and love to travel. However, huskies are also bonafide escape artists. They will escape their enclosure and wander off, if given the chance. Though challenging, Siberian Huskies will shower your life with exciting adventures.
Labrador Retrievers are registered as the American Kennel Club’s number one breed, and it’s not surprising. They’re very warm, good-natured and compassionate. Think about it, when you picture a Labrador Retriever, an image of a dog lovingly by his owner’s side immediately pops up. The Labrador is like your quirky, sporty, fun-loving girlfriend. These dogs were originally bred to be working dogs and as a companion. Besides their pleasing demeanor, Labs are athletic and built for sports. They are often a shoo-in in dog agility and obedience competitions. Their warmth and intelligence makes them perfect as therapy and assistance dogs. Their athletic build makes them an ideal choice for search and rescue operations.
These are a versatile breed; they can be a working dog while always being your best friend.
They’re game for anything and ready for any active adventure. Be it going on a dip on the beach or going for a hike, they’ll happily go as long as you’re with them. TLDR; Labs are AWESOME.
Dogtime says Golden Retrievers are gentle, intelligent, social, beautiful, and loyal. In girlfriend terms: she’s the perfect catch. When we say loyal, we aren’t kidding. This breed is a family dog and needs to be around humans a lot. They’re loving and playful and are very sensitive to the needs of those around them. They’re there to make sure you’re okay and will constantly stand up for the lives that matter to them. Golden Retrievers are a constant presence in good times and bad. When they look at you as if you’re the best person in the world, they mean it.
And tell your girlfriend to stay the hell away from Shaggy! That guys has S-T-O-N-E-R written all over him. Zoinks indeed.
But, in all seriousness, if you’re thinking of getting a dog, consider adopting one. There’s a high chance that the dog you’re buying from pet stores came from a puppy mill, a factory-style breeding facility where dogs are kept and bred under squalid conditions. It’s one way to fight puppy mills and proudly wave the middle finger at them. Adopting will also ensure that you save a dog’s life and change your new best friend’s life as you know it.
