Is GoGo Xpress Shutting Down? Here’s What’s *REALLY* Going On

Nov 14, 2022   •   Kyzia Maramara

GoGo Xpress (GGX) patrons panicking after getting wind of the spreading news that the local delivery service is shutting down its operations. But what is actually happening?

Is GoGo Express halting operations?

Folks on Twitter are thrown into confusion after many started sharing their suspicions about GGX shutting down.

“So… kuya GGX just called me and said na to cancel all my bookings with them [because] GGX will close na daw po. Yun daw reason why most of the parcel are being [returned to sender], and kaya one week na di nagpipick up,” said one online seller on Twitter.

Many others could relate to the tweet, sharing stories about parcels not being picked up. To make matters worse, some started sharing screenshots of conversations with GGX riders who informed them that “all hubs in the Philippines are closing.”

“Hanggang bukas po last operation namin ma’am. Buong Pinas po close lahat ng hub,” read a message from a GGX delivery driver.

But let’s not beat around the bush here — GoGo Xpress is not going anywhere. At least that’s what the company announced a few days ago on its social media platforms. What’s happening is that they’re leaving Shopee as a logistics partner.

GoGo Xpress and Shopee Philippines part ways

Last November 9, GoGo Express released an official statement explaining its reason for splitting with Shopee after a 6-year partnership. They cited their desire to renew their company’s commitment to the communities they serve — online sellers, buyers, and riders.

“GoGo Express will continue to focus on providing both reasonably priced logistics and e-commerce tools for sellers, a delightful purchase and delivery experience for buyers, and fair pay for our riders — which remains the core of our business and the reason we have built the company for — which is to uplift the quality and life of our fellow Filipinos,” said the statement signed by QuadX Executive Chairman of the Board Dino Araneta.

“With this renewed commitment in mind, both GoGo Xpress and Shopee Philippines have mutually agreed to discontinue our partnership effective November 9, 2022,” it clarified.

You can book directly from the GoGo Xpress app instead

So don’t worry, GoGo Xpress isn’t going anywhere. They will still continue their direct operations. — they only pulled out of Shopee, they aren’t shutting down. What patrons can do is download the GoGo Xpress app available on iOS and Android smartphones here and use it to book delivery pick-ups instead. That way you’re transacting directly with GGX instead of through a third-party app.

As for Shopee sellers, a GGX rider did mention that the packages will be picked up for now by LBC, their sister company.

GoGo Xpress is yet to issue a new statement on the recent matter

Although of course, nothing is final just yet. The statement about leaving Shopee was posted last Nov. 9, GGX has yet to address this latest issue. Scrolling through their Facebook page, you’ll see they’ve also recently assured everyone that they’ll still continue their services after acknowledging they had a lot of backlogs due to the typhoon.

“Our dear Ka-GGX, we value and appreciate your continued trust and support. Maraming salamat po for your heartwarming messages. ‘Wag mag-alala dahil GO GO GO pa rin ang negosyo natin together,” they said.

Customers express their love for GGX

GoGo Xpress is one of the most reliable couriers well-loved by many Filipinos. “Even with your separation from Shopee, I will always support you guys. You’ve been the best courier there is that I often book using the app rather than have my parcels go through the Shopee system,” read one comment on Facebook.

Others complimented GGX riders who have been described to be friendly and courteous.

“Even without Shopee, GGX has been very convenient in shipping out personal items via their app, and I love the COD feature that doesn’t have additional fees. And yes, GGX riders are very courteous,” said one netizen.

“GGX has the most friendly riders. We’ll miss you sa Shopee! Will use the GGX app pa rin,” commented another.

GGX is also the courier of choice for online sellers outside platforms like Shopee. They have a huge presence in local K-pop fan communities that use GGX to ship all sorts of merchandise.

GoGo Xpress are looking for rider partners

GGX is always looking for additional delivery riders. If their problem is, in fact, a shortage of delivery riders and driver partners, you can always apply for a side gig or recommend a friend to work for the company. Interested folks just have to own a motorcycle or vehicle, have a valid driver’s license and vehicle official receipt or Certificate of Registration, present valid government IDs, and apply here.
