2021 is the Year of the Metal Ox: a Chinese Zodiac animal characterized by hard work, honesty, discipline, and a positive attitude!
Compared to the Year of the Metal Rat in 2020 (which was indeed about change and adaptability, though not quite in the fun ways we imagined), experts say we’re in for a more peaceful, prosperous, and stable year.
As with all things astrological and magickal, the promise of good fortune is not a one-size-fits-all thing. Many things influence achieving abundance and prosperity.
For instance, one factor is the Chinese Zodiac year you were born in. The Year of the Ox seems to bode well for people born in the Years of the Rooster, Rat, and Pig, as they are predisposed to hard work and consistency.
However, it may be more challenging for those whose zodiac animals are more excitable and impatient, like the Monkey, Rabbit or Tiger.
Of course, the most important factor is our free will. Ultimately, it’s up to us to decide whether to accept the wisdom the Year of the Ox offers us, or to ignore it.
All that said, here are 8 ways to ride the energy of the Year of the Metal Ox to your advantage!
The number one thing about Oxen is that they’re hardworking. Being a beast of burden, the Ox is a symbol of steadfastness, duty, and discipline.
To succeed this year, it’s best to really dig your heels in and put your nose to the ground in pursuit of your goals. Develop a strong work ethic that will serve you this year and beyond.
Oxen are also methodical, which means they’re all about putting one foot in front of the other and finishing at a slow but steady pace.
This year, make sure to show up to your commitments, even when things are boring or repetitive. Sometimes, the road to prosperity isn’t a race, but a marathon.
Anyway, we’ve just had a crazy roller-coaster of a year in 2020! Boring, at this point, sounds like a vacation.
And speaking of which –
By this time, we’ve mostly settled into the adjustments in our business and career setups, and we’re able to predict how each day will play out again.
2021 is a good time to focus on building routine, recovering from the pandemonium of last year, and developing contingency plans so the next time upheaval occurs, you have deeper reserves to fall back on.

We will feel the weight of our responsibilities more strongly this Year of the Ox, as it is not a time to drop everything and escape to new adventures.
At the end of a hard day’s work, it might be good to reflect on who we are showing up for and what exactly we are working towards. It’s important to make sure our efforts are going to bring us returns in the end.
The Year of the Ox does not encourage taking risks or shortcuts. Cutting corners or entering into shady deals just confuses the Ox’s methodical energy; it’s simpler to just do things the correct way, even if it’s not the fast way.
In any case, if you’re doing it right, you’ll be too busy to even entertain the thought of trying to cheat the system!
Of course, since it’s the Year of the Metal Ox, it makes sense to wear accessories made of metal!
Wear rings or bangles to work or your Zoom business meetings. Every time your bracelets clink against each other, you can visualize the cha-ching of money coming your way.
You might also want to surround yourself with white items (as white is the lucky color of Metal years) or yellow and green items (as these are the lucky colors of the Ox).
Alternatively, you could also avoid Ox’s unlucky colors, which are red and brown.
Keep the energy of the Ox alive throughout the year by putting up Year of the Ox decorations in your home or office space.
Seeing the solid, grounding presence of the Ox will remind you to work hard, be consistent, and take responsibility every day of the year.
What are you doing to attract good luck this year?
