Google Will Soon Let You Ditch Your Cringe Gmail Address Without Losing Any Data

There is a certain goofy charm to that email you created when you were a kid or an angsty teen, but princessangelxo@gmail.com or bleedingheart_17@gmail.com is hardly appropriate for a full-grown adult climbing the corporate ladder. Instead of letting these email addresses go to waste, it looks like Google is rolling out a feature that lets users change their Gmail addresses without losing any data.

Multiple tech outlets have reported seeing a Google Account support page in Hindi detailing how users can change their Gmail address.
“If the last part of your Google Account email address is gmail.com, you can replace that email address with an email address that ends with @gmail.com,” read the page translated in English.
According to the support page, once a user changes their Gmail address, they can still receive emails at both their old and new email addresses.
“The data saved in your account won’t be affected. This includes things like photos, messages, and emails sent to your old email address,” it said.

Unfortunately, as of writing, the feature is not available in our country. Google noted that the email address change feature is “rolling out gradually to all users,” so we might have to wait a bit before Filipinos can enjoy it.
But if you want to check if this feature is available for you, follow these steps:
If you’re a bit indecisive, don’t worry. If the feature rolls out in the Philippines soon and you decide to change your Gmail address, you can still revert to the old one. Just repeat the steps above!
You can reuse your old email address up to 3 times, with a limit of 1 per 12 months.
