Resorts are the go-to destinations for people who want to relax and spend time away from the relentless urban chaos. And any delightful resort affair ensures that guests and resort owners are free from distress. However, this was not the case for a Calamba resort, where its supposed tranquil atmosphere was marred by trashy behavior.

A get-together that turned into a disaster

On August 14th, Desiree Manalang, the owner of Jeremias Triplex Resort, aired her dismay and frustration on Facebook after the whole place became a mess. Garbage was everywhere, including plastic chairs, tables, and a water dispenser sunken in the swimming pool.

One might assume the resort had been ravaged by a storm, but the chaos stemmed from a get-together of employees of SAMSUNG ELECTRO-MECHANICS Philippines Corp (SEMPHIL). Several individuals were also caught on CCTV throwing the resort’s equipment. Yikes!

“I’m just frustrated [with] how people are so ignorant and uneducated nowadays!” Manalang said.

She also emphasized that the management would never tolerate unremorseful and ill-mannered guests. “Walang sinoman ang pwede gumawa nito mahirap man or mayaman, may pinagaralan man o wala!”

Were the guests caught?

After the incident went viral, the guests who trashed the resort apologized to the owners and settled the matter privately.

However, netizens’ anger toward the resort guests have not abated. Many couldn’t help but wonder why the resort guests had committed such a disastrous act.

They’re calling for the people involved to be charged or imprisoned, with others going as far as tagging media outlets and Senator Raffy Tulfo’s public service program Raffy Tulfo in Action.

“Grabe naman po sila. Sa dami nilang nag-outing, walang ni isa sa kanila ang nag-initiate na linisin man lang ‘yung mga kalat,” another user commented.

People also demanded justice for Jeremias Triplex and emphasized that what happened to them was inhumane. They pointed out the concerned individuals have no idea how difficult it is to maintain and operate a business.

“Akala ata ng mga taong it, dahil binayaran nila ang isang gabi eh binayaran na nila lahat.”

SEMPHIL releases a statement

Amidst growing backlash, SEMPHIL issued a statement via Facebook to clarify the incident involving their employees. The company said the gathering held at Jeremias Triplex wasn’t “an official event of the company.” SEMPHIL also reiterated that the incident doesn’t reflect their corporate values.

“SEMPHIL is very sorry for causing social controversy due to the deviation of its personnel, and we will make more efforts to grow into a company that fulfills its social responsibilities.”
