On the night of 11 July 2021, 25-year-old Hannah Arnold topped the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 and was crowned the new Binibining Pilipinas International 2021. Here are some fast facts about our newest queen:
Born to an Irish-Australian father and a Filipina mother, Hannah spent a better part of her childhood in Canberra, Australia. But she and her family flew home to Masbate frequently for vacations. She is part of a family of four, with an older sister named Angela.
She shared in her self-introduction video that her parents wanted to name her Sophie. But when she was born, one of her aunts told her parents that she looked “more like a Hannah.” And so she was named.
She took up Applied Science in Forensic Studies from the University of Canberra. So you know she’s got the brains to match her statuesque looks. And speaking of her otherworldly beauty, she also works as a model when she’s not prepping for pageants.
Given her background in forensic studies, it should come as no surprise that her hobbies include listening to crime podcasts and solving mysteries.
She has a pet dog named Nala in Australia. She also doesn’t miss any chance to post photos of dogs she gets to work with during her modeling and volunteer work.
In her self-introduction video, she shared how she’s always been joining pageants. One of her earliest memories is when she was crowned the Baby Queen of San Fernando, Masbate in 2002. Since then, she has joined several beauty pageants, including Miss Philippines Charity Queen 2014 and Binibining Pilipinas 2019.
One of her main advocacies is children’s education, particularly STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
“As a forensic science graduate, I would like to see our country invest in science and technology. Let us encourage our students to become scientists, and together we can prevent another pandemic,” she said during the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 coronation night.
Hannah often donates to the White Cross Children’s Home orphanage and organizes donation drives during her birthday month.
During the lockdown and while waiting for the coronation night of Binibining Pilipinas 2021, she also joined the charity organization Books of Tomorrow as a volunteer to promote literacy and urge her followers to donate to the cause.
As Binibining Pilipinas International 2021, she will be heading to Yokohama City, Kanagawa, Japan to represent the Philippines at the Miss International 2021 this November.
During the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 grand coronation night, three more ladies were crowned as Philippines’ representative to world-stage pageants: Cagayan de Oro’s Cinderella Faye Obeñita as Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2021, Cavite’s Samantha Panlilio as Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2021, and Batangas’ Maureen Montagne as Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2021. Borongan’s Gabrielle Basiano and Valenzuela’s Meiji Cruz were named as runners-up.
