In the past five years alone, we’ve spent most of our time glued to our screens—from working remotely during the pandemic to scrolling endlessly while in traffic. For most of us, the routine is tiring. That’s why we’re seeing a resurgence of analog hobbies and activities for 2026. More and more folks are looking for ways to spend timme away from their screens and experience more of the world around them. If ROMO (Relief of Missing Out) is your schtick this year, these hobbies might just cure you of doomscrolling.
@greener.spaces Anyone can grow herbs (yes, even you!) It’s easier than you think #GrowAtHome #HerbGarden #PlantTok #PlantLife #GrowYourOwn ♬ trees and flowers by strawberry switchblade – Eissej
To the generation who grew up with Stardew Valley, Farmville, or even Animal Crossing, take this as a sign to see if you have a green thumb. Make 2026 the year you touch real grass. While not everyone has the space or plot of land to live out your farmer dreams, you can start small with planting herbs or even indoor plants. It’s time to reignite the plant obsession during the lockdown! Plus, there are kits available online, which will help you get started with indoor gardening.
You’ve probably seen the rise in junk journaling, collecting stickers, and the obsession with leather journals on your feed recently. More people are documenting life offline, through handwritten notes, scraps, or simply making gratitude lists. There’s no standard way to get into journaling. You don’t need the most expensive materials or ten sets of stickers; you only need a pen and paper, and let your mind go free. Journaling will do wonders for your mental health, too.

For the adventurous, camping might be your cup of tea. If you’re someone whose only free time is on the weekends, there are plenty of camping grounds near the metro. You can go to the mountains to wake up to a sea of clouds or drive to coastal destinations for swimming. Don’t fret when you don’t have the gear for it yet – there are camping grounds that allow you to rent tents for an overnight stay. All that’s left to bring are food, instruments, and your best stories to be shared by a warm campfire.
Picture this: slow mornings where you make your matcha using a bowl you crafted, or hosting Galentine’s and serving food on plates and bowls you made. Shared moments like these are made even more special when you use things that you made! Getting started with pottery may seem overwhelming the first time, but there are studios around the metro where you can learn the basics. Materials are usually already provided when you join these classes, so all you need to do is sign up. It’s a fun activity to share with friends or even a partner, too.
Here’s to making your mermaid dreams happen! If you’re someone who loves the sea and seeing vibrant marine life, freediving is a hobby (or sport) you might want to try. You can get started with indoor pools in the metro, and if you’ve already learned the fundamentals, you can branch out to weekend trips in nearby provinces. The best thing is, you can get started with freediving even if you’re a non-swimmer.
Bags, plushies (amigurumi), and clothing – these are just some of the things you can create with just yarn and a hook. You can get started with crocheting by practicing basic stitches and following simple patterns. Once you make enough, you can begin writing your own patterns too! However, crocheting is something you can’t do while multitasking, as you need to pay attention to counting the stitches.
While not everyone has the time or budget to go on vacation, reading is one of the best ways to explore new places (or even worlds) without leaving your house. Remember, it’s not a race. You don’t need to set a 100-book goal for the year; take it slow, and you’ll pick up your pace. Just try to incorporate it in your daily routine, even if it’s just three pages a day. And if getting new books gets too pricey, you can always visit your local library, borrow from a friend, or buy second-hand. Try joining book clubs too!

Sometimes, getting your much-needed offline time means rekindling childhood activities, such as coloring. We’ve branched out from the adult coloring books that were popular years ago; now, there are options with cozier illustrations that are just more relaxing.
Getting into a new hobby will feel overwhelming at first, but remember this: there’s no such thing as doing something perfectly the first time. With consistency and practice, you’ll be a pro in no time. Enjoy your life offline in 2026!
