Attention, GCash users! In case you missed it, GCash is once again offering their GCash Card, this time under Visa. The e-wallet used to offer a Mastercard version but have since discontinued it and switched to Visa. For those who want to get one, take note that your GCash account needs to be fully verified before you can order. Already fully verified? Here’s how you can get the GCash Visa Card and what you can use it for.

What you can use the GCash Card for

The GCash Visa Card works a lot like a debit card, but this time, it’s connected to your GCash e-wallet, which you can reload anytime you want. Here are some ways you can use the GCash Card:

Withdraw from your GCash balance. If you need cash on hand, simply head to any GCash-affiliated ATM or partner outlet and you can withdraw directly with your card. Note that there are transaction limits set for this depending on your method of withdrawal.

Use it as a debit card. Pay for your purchases online or in physical stores. When shopping at physical stores, simply swipe or tap your GCash Card at the cashier’s terminal. And when shopping online, enter your card number and the CVV found at the back to pay.

Get one of the lowest foreign conversion rates with international purchases, which is perfect for travelers. Personally, this is the best perk of a GCash Card for me. For comparison, last June, I made two transactions worth KRW 4,000 each using a credit card and my GCash Card. The credit card charged PHP 175.29, while the GCash Card charged PHP 172.11. That’s PHP 3 of savings for a small amount. What more when you’re shopping for more expensive items?

How you can get a GCash Card

Open your GCash app and go to My Linked Accounts.

Select GCash Card.

Choose Order a GCash Card.

Tap Order a Card, then select your chosen delivery method. At the moment, only door-to-door delivery is available.

Confirm your card details (i.e. the name to be displayed on your GCash card). Then fill out the form with the necessary information (i.e. complete delivery address, contact number). Pay the total amount of PHP 250, which includes PHP 185 for the card and PHP 65 for the delivery.

Things to note

• There are select areas where the delivery is unavailable. You may check the complete list of serviceable areas on the GCash website.
• You cannot cancel your order for the GCash Card, so make sure all your delivery details are correct before hitting the Pay button.
• Once the order is placed, the card will be delivered to your address within the following delivery time frame, depending on your location: 4–6 business days for NCR; 6–8 business days for Luzon; and 8–10 business days for VisMin.
