Physical intimacy is still an essential part of any relationship. If you deny each other that one thing, you might just end up satiating your hunger elsewhere. It’s going to be a little weird if you aren’t used to doing it, but send each other dirty messages every once in a while. You have to make sure, though, that you trust them fully. Therefore, see #5.
Again, alluding to #5, you have to be honest with one another in order to build trust. But if you keep flirting with your gorgeous co-worker, or dancing with handsome strangers in parties, or hanging out with your “We’re Just Friends, Promise” friend, then no matter how honest you may be to your long distance SO, they might not trust you to stay faithful.
Since you can’t spend time together on a normal day, find ways to do things with each other online. Play online games, collaborate on a music video, or write poems together—anything that suits your individual or shared interests!
If your friends and family make a conscious effort to weigh you down with their discouraging remarks regarding the LDR, then you really will feel like there’s no hope for the relationship to work. Make your immediate circle understand that your choices are your own, and you just need them to support you all the way even if their opinions differ from yours. With a more positive and encouraging environment, you won’t ever feel like an LDR is one of the worst decisions you’ve ever made.
