Since the General Community Quarantine started, a lot of us are required to report back to work, which means going out and braving the world outside and all the dangers it poses — particularly the virus. This also means that you need to do a whole lot of cleaning and disinfecting when you arrive home. But do you think you’re sanitizing properly after going outside? Find out below.
Call ahead to ask someone at home to prepare everything you need for sanitizing: soap, alcohol, a foot bath for your shoes, a basket for all the things you took with you outside, and the clean clothes you’d need to change into. Or if you live alone, set out the things you need in places you can easily reach before your leave home.
When you get back home, before crossing the threshold, use an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content and disinfect your hands. Even if you’ve already sanitized your hands, do not touch anything. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
You don’t know what kind of bacteria, germs, and other elements your shoes came into contact with, so you should definitely not bring them inside your house. Remove your shoes before stepping inside your house. Just make sure to sanitize them later.
Of course, you probably brought your phone, wallet, keys, and other essentials with you when you went out. Make sure to collect all the things you brought outside and put them in a pile or a basket for sanitizing later.
Now that you’ve taken off most of the things you brought outside, your clothes are all that’s left. When you go inside your house, go straight into the bathroom — and don’t touch anything — remove your clothes, and take a bath. Then change into the clean clothes you had prepared before leaving.
After your bath, do your laundry immediately. Wear gloves when handling your dirty laundry. Use the warmest water setting appropriate for the clothing and dry them thoroughly. You can also use a bleach solution for your whites.
After handling your clothes, grab the basket of your things — still wearing gloves — and disinfect each item thoroughly, especially your phone. Not sure what to do? Read this to know how to disinfect your daily household items.
After you’re finished cleaning your clothes and disinfecting your things, wash your hands again thoroughly. Use soap and water, then apply alcohol.
Do you do all of the steps above, too? What’s your disinfecting routine? Share it with us below!!
