Nope, we’re still not coming down from our Stranger Things high. How could you move on so quickly after Netflix took everyone on the emotional rollercoaster ride that is Season 4? After crying our eyes out at the ending, there are a few things that could comfort fans. One is of the cast and crew having fun behind the scenes (there’s no Vecna in the real world) and another is the knowledge that some of the best lines in Stranger Things are actually improvised. Check them out:

What makes Eddie Munson such a loveable character is that he’s a cinnamon roll underneath all that bad boy metalhead persona. What makes his actor, Joe Quinn, a superb one is improvising a few lines to play around with his character. And it’s safe to say that’s what made millions of Stranger Things fans fall in love with Eddie and Quinn. Stranger Writers on Twitter confirmed that his line “Don’t ya, big boy?” directed at Steve Harrington (Joe Quinn) during the RV theft was in fact improvised. Now why would he play with our hearts like this?!

Fans have wanted the Jopper — Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Jim Hopper (David Harbour) — ship to sail since Season 1. But just as it looks like things were progressing, everyone thought Hopper was dead for 8 months.
In Season 4, girl boss Joyce risked her life to get to rescue her man and their reunion was a tearjerker. Fans finally got to see them kiss (although how she let him kiss her after he just admitted being on a diet of moldy bread and maggots, we’ll never know. True love eh?). But apparently, as the Stranger Writers Twitter account revealed, that monumental scene was improvised by Harbour and Ryder themselves. They really knew what the fans wanted!

While we’re not quite ready to talk about that scene, we do have to for the sake of this article. After Eddie bravely fought off a horde of Demobats and slowly succumbed to his — *TEARS* — death, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) held him until his last breath. Eddie affectionately telling Dustin he loves him was another improv from Quinn. Although it was never in the original script, it’s now one of the most iconic Stranger Things moments.

Here’s another scene that wrecked us this season — seeing Max (Sadie Sink) almost die and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) hysterical but holding her in his arms. As avid #LuMax shippers, we were devastated. And hearing Lucas cry for Erica (Priah Ferguson) who was locked outside the attic made us cry even more. Although the Sinclair siblings were ever affectionate, Lucas knew he could count on his sister for help. After all, you can’t spell ‘America’ without Erica.
