LOOK: Today’s Jerry Yan Looks the Same as He Did as Meteor Garden’s Dao Ming Si

May 24, 2022   •   Meryl Medel

It has been 21 years since Meteor Garden made fans of all ages across the Philippines go absolutely gaga over the F4, but protagonist Jerry Yan still looks pretty much the same. In new photos that have gone viral on Chinese social media platform Weibo, Jerry Yan is wearing the same iconic get-up he wore as Dao Ming Si, the male protagonist of the 2001 hit series.

In the viral photos, Jerry Yan, now 45 years old, is sporting Dao Ming Si’s signature wavy long hair pushed back by red bandana while wearing a black sleeveless tee showing off his muscles.

After the 2001 cultural phenomenon and his 2022 appearance were put side by side, we can’t help but be bowled over by how well he aged. Share your skincare routine with us, Mr. Yan!

According to reports, Jerry Yan donned his Dao Ming Si persona to participate in a Chinese variety show called The Detectives Adventure. The series is composed of different episodes with detective stories adapted from classic dramas. A group of detectives (usually seven MCs) need to obtain clues from ridiculous scripts and hilarious games in order to solve the mystery set in the world of the drama. In this one, it seems Meteor Garden will have an episode of its own, with Jerry Yan joining the cast.

Other characters from Meteor Garden — Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men, and Mei Zuo — also joined him in filming, but they were played by other actors. Hong Kong-based model and actress Angelababy played the role of female protagonist Shan Cai (originally played by Barbie Hsu).

Do you think this is a sign of an upcoming reunion? Fingers crossed! But for now, let’s all just enjoy how unchanged Jerry Yan’s looks are. We must again request for your secret to agelessness, Mr. Yan!
