Starbucks baristas receive a complimentary drink and dish everyday after all their salivating over macchiatos and croissant. Think of it as a reward for putting up for every rude and demanding customer. This job won’t just fill your tummy, it’ll also make your Instagram feed look that much prettier with all the Starbucks products you’ll post. Naks!
“Akin ka na mamaya.”
At many good bakeries, all the unsold bread go on discount prices at the end of the day. People who know this form long bee lines near closing time for this bakery bounty – fresh, glorious bread at half price! If you work there, you get first dibs on the best pick. What could be better?
“Where’re the donuts?!”
Agency work is the most stressful job on this list. Stress-eating comes with the territory, but it’s very good food for F-R-E-E.. A 10 am client meeting is almost always a 2-hour stretch and clients will often spring for lunch. If you have to meet at some ungodly morning hour, say 7ish, breakfast will be served. If you’ve been roped into doing rush overtime work, you get bribed with lots of coffee and donuts plus order out for dinner: Chinese, pizza whatever. That’s just to tide you over till the midnight snack. You really hit the mother lode when there’s a new business pitch – and it’s for a food brand! You get buried under a mountain of product samples that you don’t notice the work up to your neck. Agency work is selling your soul, on the hog.
Food sites must always carry the most recent menus of the restaurants they feature. Being in charge of this means having real, experiential and updated grasp of your site’s main and sole content – food! Output goes on a kind of taste to taste basis. It means you have to, indeed are expected to, go on a regular sampling spree. Helluva job, yeah but hey, someone’s got to do it. Might as well be you.
