New to Journaling? These YouTubers Will Help You Get Started

Jun 22, 2020   •   Ina Louise Manto

Do you still remember collecting stickers for that 2020 planner or excitedly picking the best one that would suit your needs? Planners may have become a “useless” purchase from last year because honestly, what’s there to plan when we’re all stuck at home and can’t travel?

Well, you can still use your planner as a journal. Journaling is a great way to cope during this trying time; so it’s no wonder that many have been getting into it! While it’s challenging to look forward to the future (it’s scary AF), you can start listing down good things that happen to you on the daily. It’s something nice to look back to once all of this is over and to help you get started, we’ve rounded up some journal YouTubers you can take inspiration from.

Justinebujo

Don’t know which journal to use? Six-ring binder journals have been a trend in the journal community lately and in this video, Justinebujo shares a guide to get you started. You’ll learn where you can buy them, the types of papers you can use, and stickers and postcards you can decorate with. She also shared a video of things you can write in your journal, just in case you need more guidance on that.

Jordan Clark

In this video, Jordan Clark shares 10 journaling prompts that will help you get started with art journaling. Jordan makes content about arts and crafts; aside from journaling, you can watch her videos about aesthetic DIYs, tutorials, travel, and more.

Mihan

Want to learn some favorite journaling supplies in the community? Mihan shares some of her favorite supplies: stickers, brush pens, stamps, washi tapes, and everything in between. Her videos are also very relaxing; if you enjoy ASMR, you’ll get a fair share of that!

Lavendaire

Journaling prompts are very helpful especially when you’re still finding out what you want to write about and how you want them to look (aka your style). Lavendaire shares 30 journaling prompts for self-discovery, which are perfect for when you want to reflect and know yourself more. She makes videos on personal growth, which can help you stay grounded especially during this trying time.

Constance Goh

Constance Goh is a Malaysia-based content creator who makes journal videos you can play in the background as you write. She also makes pen pal, beauty, and lifestyle videos that are aesthetic af.

Bestmess

Bestmess is the second channel of fashion YouTuber, bestdressed. Though Ashley’s videos are mostly about fashion, in this video, she shares a journaling method that has worked for her. It’s easy to get overwhelmed in cute stationery and materials that you just don’t know how to get started. Sometimes, all it takes is picking up a pen and writing what you’re thinking of – no designs included.
