Moments from Volleyfriends UAAP Volleyball Kick Off SHAD

Homebodies get a bad rap. Just because we prefer the company of our cat over actual people doesn’t mean that we’re socially inept or antisocial. Nor does it mean that we don’t have healthy relationships or neglect to keep up with the rest of the world—we just prefer to do it from our couch. In a bustling city like Metro Manila, where the malls stay open late and people never seem to sleep, being a homebody is a rare and beautiful thing with its own perks and privileges.

8. You become a pop culture fiend

Staying home means being able to catch up on shows, getting some reading done and fulfilling your long-time dream of becoming a reservoir of useless information. When you do decide to go out, you’re guaranteed a win at quiz night thanks to all the long hours spent geeking out.

7. Learning how to make the most of trips outside the house

Forays into the outside world become rare, golden opportunities—and you’ve learned not to squander them. Being a homebody has given you a new perspective, and you’ve grown to appreciate everything from being caught in a rain shower to doing the groceries.

6. Saving yourself from sunburn

Regardless of the season, this country can get scorching hot. Even on overcast days, you run the risk of getting sunburnt the second you step out of your beloved home. While everyone else risks getting burnt to a crisp, you get to enjoy having three electric fans pointed at you as you lounge about.

5. You develop mad hosting skills

You mean to say people waste their evenings sitting at a loud, crowded bar with rude people to spend good, hard-earned money on overpriced alcohol? Who does that? Especially when you can have friends over and get drunk in the comforts of your own home!
