Step aside, Taylor Swift, Juan Karlos “JK” Labajo is here to make history. The 22-year-old singer’s hit single, “ERE” is the first Filipino song to land on streaming giant Spotify’s global chart. His reaction? Gratefulness.

On October 8, music industry news outlet Chart Data shared that “ERE” claimed the #87 spot on the global Spotify chart with 1.45 million streams, a first for any Pinoy.
The next day, October 9, it confirmed that Labajo broke the “all-time single day stream record for a song on Spotify Philippines with 1.392 million streams, surpassing Taylor Swift’s “Mine (Taylor’s Version).”

Is Labajo aware of his huge feat? You bet he is. The “Buwan” singer re-shared a screenshot of Spotify Stats showing his song sitting pretty in the Number 1 spot on the Philippines Spotify Chart. Labajo also took the time to thank his listeners and fans through a simple tweet: A photo of him captioned “Grateful”.
Labajo released “ERE” last August from his latest album “Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1”. Talking about the album, he shared on Instagram that it was a collection of songs he penned with a certain someone in mind.
“This album originally started out as a compilation of all the love songs that I made for someone whom I gave so much of myself to. A collection of all the words I wrote and the melodies that came along with it. Eventually, things didn’t turn out the way I hoped for. The songs started to not make any sense. All the songs for love turned into songs for sadness. For me at least, they just became a bunch of bullshit. Hence, ‘Sad Songs and Bullshit,'” he wrote in the caption.
So if “ERE” isn’t your current LSS or isn’t on your daily song rotation yet, you probably know by now how much you’re missing out. Labajo’s album is available for streaming on all music platforms.
