There’s no denying that Love Scout is the talk of K-drama Town these days.
Now in the second half of its 12-episode run, the office romance series follows a single father who becomes the secretary of an ambitious and uptight CEO. Of course, the two eventually fall in love, sending viewers to fits and fits of kilig.
Fans of the show are particularly taking an interest in the gentlemanly Lee Joon-hyuk, who stars opposite OG romcom and melo star Han Ji-min in the series. So if you’re among the viewers swooning over him (he’s currently topping actor reputation rankings in South Korea, BTW!), this list is for you!
Here are eight must-watch dramas that feature your newest K-drama crush:
In Vigilante, Lee Joon Hyuk plays the role of Jo Heon — a detective who is on a mission to catch a mysterious vigilante targeting criminals who slip through the legal system. Jo Heon is dedicated to upholding the law and finds himself in a tense game of cat-and-mouse.
One of OCN’s underrated gems, Dark Hole stars Lee Joon Hyuk as Yoo Tae Han, a former police officer turned tow truck driver, who joins forces with a detective to battle the horrors unleashed by a mysterious dark smoke. His character’s courage and street-smart instincts become crucial as he protects survivors and fights against the monstrous transformations caused by the smoke.
In the critically acclaimed Stranger series, Lee Joon Hyuk stars alongside Bae Doona and Cho Seung Woo. He portrays Seo Dong Jae, a morally ambiguous prosecutor whose loyalties and motivations are often unclear. While initially self-serving and manipulative, his character sees some serious development as he grapples with ethical dilemmas and personal conflicts.
Lee Joon Hyuk takes on the role of Oh Young Seok, a charismatic and ambitious lawmaker in the South Korean remake of the American political thriller TV series. As Oh Young Seok, he hides darker motives beneath his polished exterior, later emerging as a formidable figure, whose actions bring both challenges and suspense to the show.
Love Scout isn’t the first drama in which Lee Joon Hyuk plays the role of a secretary! In Are You Human Too?, Lee Joon Hyuk becomes Ji Young Hoon, the loyal secretary and confidant to the AI robot Nam Shin III. He helps his robot boss navigate dangerous situations while keeping its true identity a secret, all the while dodging hijinks along the way!
A Poem A Day gives viewers a peek into the lives of allied health professionals. In this *healing* mini-series, Lee Joon Hyuk appears as Ye Jae Wook, a reserved yet caring physical therapist who works at the same hospital as the main characters. He serves as a mentor and occasional love interest, bringing wisdom and warmth to this slice-of-life drama.
In City Hunter, Lee Joon Hyuk stars with South Korean superstar Lee Min Ho, playing the role of Kim Young Joo, a principled prosecutor who becomes an adversary to the titular vigilante while seeking justice through legal means. Early K-drama fans probably remember Young Joo’s emotional journey, including his personal sacrifices that added depth to the drama’s central conflict.
Wanna see Lee Joon Hyuk as a musician? Look up 2009’s I Am Legend. Here, Lee Joon Hyuk plays Jang Tae Hyun, a passionate and talented guitarist who becomes a key member of a band formed by the female lead. Tae Hyun’s easygoing personality and passion for music bring energy and heart to this feel-good story.
Lee Joon Hyuk earned his first Excellent Actor Award from MBC after playing Ji Hyung Joo in 365: Repeat the Year. A detective who gets a chance to go back in time by one year to prevent a tragic event, Ji Hyung Joon doesn’t realize that resetting time comes with its own dangers until he is faced with unexpected perils.
Lee Joon Hyuk sure has appeared in many popular dramas in the past! Ready for a rewatch or marathon? *Wink, wink*
