Another cutie has been stealing hearts in Hometown Cha Cha Cha and it’s none other than the cute PD (producing director) Ji Seong-hyun, played by actor Lee Sang-yi. Like his character, Lee Sang-yi he also has a lot of unique traits that fans are sure to love. Here are random facts about the actor that will make you want to root for him even more.
He started taking interest in acting at the young age of six, when he played a role at his elementary school’s play. Later on, he would study acting at the Korea National University of Arts.
In 2014, he made his theater debut in the musical Grease, playing one of the T-birds. His performance was well-received by the public, and would later open doors for him to be able to act on the small screen.
In the 2020 drama Once Again, Lee Sang-yi played Yoon Jae-Seok, a dentist and the younger brother of Yoon Kyu-Jin (Lee Sang-Yeob). His pairing with Lee Cho-Hee stole the show and made thousands of hearts flutter. Since then, he became the talk of the town because of both his acting and his eye-catching looks.
A year after he made a buzz with his role in Once Again, he landed the second lead role in the drama Youth of May, a drama about the historic Gwangju Uprising. He played Lee Soo-chan, a young businessman who has always put his family first. Being the eldest in the family, he’s responsible and reliable.
His first scene for Youth of May required him to drink. As he’s not much of a good drinker, he admitted that he felt a bit dizzy while filming the scene.
Sure, it was a temporary boy band, but still. Just this year, he was part of MSG Wannabe, a boy band that was put together on the variety show Hangout with You. Though they were just a temporary group, Koreans loved their music and they were even nominated in different music shows.
Just like so many of us, Lee Sang-yi also picked up plant-rearing as a quarantine hobby. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, he said that he had bought Monstera and hydroponic plants (or plants that can grow in water).
Back when he was in high school, he won an award for his cover of Rain’s “Rainism” dance. And though we know him for his acting performances, he hasn’t really stopped dancing. We don’t need to elaborate this any further, it’s clear that this cutie has some serious moves.
