Some are born adulting experts, while others — not so much. You might think the basics are the easiest, but for these Pinoy Redditors, these little things still haunt them. 

Math

Big shoutout to Blaise Pascal and the crew for inventing and developing the calculators we know today. Math drives us crazy, and mentally calculating anything is another level of madness we’re not ready for. Kudos to math prodigies, but some of us need calculators to function.

We’re not sure if our confusing pedestrian crossings are to blame, but there are Pinoys who’ve never overcome their fear of crossing the streets. It’s trickier if you’re crossing an area with no traffic lights to guide you. You gotta bet on your street smarts, 20/20 vision, and a pinch of prayer to reach the other side, hopefully unscathed. 

Road and street directions

Once you’ve crushed your fear of crossing the roads, get ready to face its monstrous sibling: having no sense of direction. Maps look like hieroglyphs to you, and any attempt to follow verbal directions only adds to the confusion. Would it be too much to ask for clear signs on every corner?

Meeting up with friends and talking about anything for hours is always fun. But telling a good story? That takes skill! As much as we want to keep everybody hooked, some can’t help but ramble, trying to find the right words to keep the story going. You’re lucky if you can piece everything together once story time’s over.

Socializing

Whether it’s approaching a service crew or a colleague, some people draw a complete blank the moment they need to make small talk. Socializing is tricky. You never know if you’re coming off too much, awkward, or clueless while talking to somebody. No wonder why most people enjoy being a wallflower. Less talk, fewer mistakes. 

Cooking

Unfortunately, even something as simple as frying an egg is a Herculean task for non-cooks. Either the dish looks burnt to a crisp or unappetizing. You can’t leave them in the kitchen without praying the house doesn’t go up in flames.

Left and right

We want to preface this by saying our preschool teachers did everything they could to instill the basics of life. But apparently, some people still struggle to differentiate left from right. At this point, a refresher doesn’t sound so bad!

Having spatial awareness

Always bumping into things? The lack of awareness of your surroundings makes you seem like a walking disaster. A big shoutout to those who never get tired of telling us to move away.
