Actress Liza Soberano expressed her disappointment with the headline written by Bandera, a Taglish tabloid newspaper published by Inquirer. The headline highlighted negative remarks on her recent projects, and the actress called out the publication on social media. Here’s what happened.
Last night, on their social media pages, Inquirer shared Bandera’s article reporting the negative reactions of netizens on her ongoing projects. It read: “Liza Soberano pinagtawanan ng bashers: ‘Hay naku, kung anu-ano na lang pinaggagagawa mo, nasaan na ang Hollywood dream?’”

Liza has been going back and forth overseas for a while now in pursuit of a career in Hollywood and in South Korea. However, she currently put her Hollywood projects on hold in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and the ongoing strike.
After the tweet caught her attention, the actress promptly called out the publication on X (formerly Twitter). “What type of journalism is this?? You guys are straight up sh*tting on a young woman’s dreams in the pursuit of clicks and comments.”
“Don’t you guys have more important news to talk about?” she added.

Many netizens agree with her sentiments, labeling the headline “unprofessional” and a product of “crab mentality.” Netizens also expressed their support for Liza and her projects.
Too unprofessional from @inquirerdotnet @banderaphl! Your voice matters, and you’re making it heard. Remember, you’ve got the power to turn your dreams into reality. Keep moving forward. We’re here to support you all the way @lizasoberano

That’s what they call the “crab mentality.” In fact, dito sa Philippines, marami ang unprofessional journalism situations that undermine and report with bias for personal interests. When a reporter approaches you sa event, snob mo, they deserve to be ignored Ms. @lizasoberano ❤️

In response, both Inquirer and Bandera deleted the tweets on their social media page. Both platforms also published articles reporting Liza’s response to their post. Bandera’s headline read “Liza Soberano umalma sa negang headline; nakikiisa sa nagaganap na strike sa Hollywood,” with Inquirer writing a similar headline in English.
