Rich Griner, or as he calls his personal project, RH Xanders, was a sight to behold on the Mangyan stage. The area was filled up for the performance and RH Xanders delivered a tasty set of jazz and hip hop. He even invited Chocolate Grass’ frontwoman, August, to deliver some soulful vocals. RH Xanders lit up the stage and it was a great way to kick off the evening of day three.
Festival favorite June Marieezy graced the stage with some new tracks and a new persona. She gracefully danced around the stage during her intro before bursting into soulful vocals. FKJ himself performed with her and it’s safe to say that the crowd loved it. June probably had the most people in front of the stage at one point in the festival, and that just goes to show how much of a crowd pleaser the Texan really is.
The Malasimbo staple were nothing short of phenomenal. People who got to see Brigada perform were in complete awe. They performed with pure energy and got the otherwise relaxed crowd up on their dancing feet. They definitely embody Filipino pride and are continuously spreading their good vibrations through their native music.
Ah, Sinosikat. It’s always a different experience for an audience when they can see the artist themselves having a blast. She took to stage like a rockstar and played her heart out even if her set was late in the night. Nothing took away from the raw soul she always possesses while she’s on stage. Playing for the second time in Malasimbo, they were a great and fun act to see. Keep on doing you, Kat!
