Sorry, but we meant Alden R. Jacob, winner of the BlazBlue tournament. It was an epic win, and the amusing confusion coming from people exclaiming “Alden is in Manila Cup” definitely brought some unique levity to the proceedings.
Chants, cheers, jeers, and so much more really made Manila Cup a great event to spend your weekend with. It simply doesn’t get much more hype than this, especially when you consider how fast-paced a fighting game is compared to a Dota 2 match. Apples to Oranges, absolutely, but that fast pace definitely makes it exciting in different ways from your average PC game.
Justin Wong, one of the most popular players in the world, declared that the Philippines was one of the best places he’s been to, and this is despite the heat during the weekend. Looks like our community did the right things to make him and the other international players feel very welcome in the community – aside from the fact that he won about 80,000++ by placing first in both SFV and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, that is.
Ghost Fighter lives on in the Filipino Fighting Game Community. That is all.
