8 Misconceptions about Dating a Visual Artist

“Artists are so emotional!” might be one of the most offensive things you could say. We all succumb to our emotions and we all struggle with our fears and insecurities. Artists aren’t the only ones experiencing this; they just feel it more keenly and express it more through their endeavors. Don’t be so quick to judge.
So don’t try to impress them by fussing over colors that are “obviously different” when they’re, honestly, just the same. They might even laugh at you for sounding mighty pretentious.
Not all artists are liberal. They’re not going to suggest nude portraiture, or coax you into smoking a joint, or get you to do crazy things to fuel their creativity. Don’t assume until you get to know them.
Dating an artist doesn’t give you the freedom to utilize their skills for free, even if they’re a freelance artist. No matter how much they love you, their services will always come at a price. They need to make a living, too, and be paid for what they’re worth. And whatever you do, don’t say “E, ito LANG NAMAN gagawin mo!”
