A Timeline of All the Ir/relevant Things People Have Said About the Breakup of Moira Dela Torre and Jason Hernandez

A year after their highly publicized breakup, former couple Moira Dela Torre and Jason Marvin Hernandez once again find themselves in the eye of a social media storm. In case you’re wondering what’s up, here’s a quick summary slash timeline of the people who entered the fray.

 

The couple breaks up

Last May 2022, Jason announced their breakup, admitting he cheated on Moira during their marriage. The split came as a surprise to the public after three years of what seemed to be blissful marriage.


In the year since then, the two have been separated and estranged. Moira has been busy releasing new music and touring around the country.

 

Jason Hernandez releases a new song

Early this month, Jason teased new photos of a mystery girl on his social media accounts, with some netizens thinking that the girl is Moira based on the outfit. But Moira seemingly shut down the speculation in a simple post, writing “Eme. Di ako yon.”

Jason’s photos were leading up to a new song entitled “Ikaw Pa Rin.” He confirmed that he was indeed talking about Moira, when the music video dropped, which included clips of their wedding and of the music video of Moira’s song “Tagpuan”.

 

Moira’s sister vs Jason

In a series of tweets, Moira’s sister J’mee scrutinizes the lyrics of Jason’s song: “Nakakatawa yung buong song . . . kasi parang sa buong year never ka naman nag-effort sa ate ko???”

J’mee added that Jason allegedly did not have Moira’s permission to use clips from the wedding, concerts, and music video.

Responding to J’mee’s tweets, Jason published a now-deleted Facebook post saying how he tried to win Moira back. “I’ve been good to you and your family and I’m sorry if you were fed false/exaggerated/filtered details, but I gave my all to try to get her back,” he wrote.

 

Songwriter Lolito Go “breaks silence”

The most recent viral post about the former couple’s breakup is a rather lengthy post written by Lolito Go, a songwriter who worked with the two before. Taking the side of Jason, Lolito claimed that Moira is “more of an oppressor than a victim” while Jason “took all the blame, took all the bashing in the name of love.”

He also added conflicting statements about Jason cheating while also alleging that Moira found someone else: “Yes, nagkasala sya. Pero walang third party on Jason’s side. He never fell in love with anyone else. His only sin was he listened to the call of flesh and availed of illicit massage service because Moira couldn’t fulfill his sexual needs. . . . Even before Jason confessed to his sin, Moira already wanted out. Dahil nakahanap na rin sya ng pamalit.”

 

Cornerstone exec defends Moira

With social media in flames due to the viral posts, Cornerstone Vice President Jeff Vadillo took to Facebook to defend Moira. “That statement is grossly inaccurate,” he wrote. “She would never need the service of a ghostwriter for her songs/compositions (which this other person is claiming na tumawad pa daw si Moira to the tune of P20,000). . . . Why would she pay when she is more than capable of doing it herself? Hindi pa siya sikat, sumusuka ng songs after songs si Moira. Doon sa nagsabi nun—are you implying na mas magaling kang songwriter kaysa sa kanya?”

 

Lolito Go responds

Despite not being namedropped, Lolito Go published a response to Jeff Vadillo’s post, refuting most of the latter’s claims and coming to the defense of his previous statements. “I understand you needed to defend her image, her brand. Cash cow nyo yan eh. Pero wag din ninyong kunsintihin kung may nakikita na kayong red flags,” Lolito wrote. “I can’t keep mum when injustice presents itself.”

 

More people seemingly join the fray

Moira’s makeup artist Theresa Padin also took to Facebook to refute Lolito’s claims and tell him off for getting involved in something he shouldn’t be involved in. “Kung anuman ang nangyari at mangyayari sa kanila, wala ka nang pakeelam don,” she wrote. “Wala kang access sa mga personal na nangayyari sa buhay [ni Moira]. So did it give you peace to post and stir up gossip like that?”

Meanwhile, in a brief post, Star Music PH head and ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo “vouch[es] for Moira’s good character.” He added that Moira is an “exceptional songwriter”, which he claims is “already a given.”

Likewise, Moira’s drummer Luke Sigua came to the defense of the singer, emphasizing that she was “never a credit grabber” and that she “NEVER cheated on Jason.”

Netizens are also speculating that lawyer Joji Villanueva Alonso, who has a celebrity client on his roster, is preparing to pursue legal action against the person making allegations about his client. While no names have been mentioned, netizens think that he is talking about Moira as his client and the ongoing issue.

 

Keep things private

As of writing, both Moira and Jason have yet to comment on the viral claims of anyone.

Still, this might be a lesson learned for everyone trying to involve themselves in this relationship: just don’t. There’s too much noise in the world, especially on social media. Let’s allow people to resolve their problems privately. Let’s not add fuel to the fire when it should be only the people involved who should actually be involved.
