A content creator known as Ileiad was put in hot water — both publicly and legally — after creating a libelous post about actor Mon Confiado. Here’s what happened:
It all started when content creator Ileiad, whose real name is Jeff Jacinto, posted a story about Mon Confiado on Facebook. In the post, Ileiad claimed that he met the actor at a grocery store, but the actor was rude to him and a grocery store employee. He added that he saw the actor attempting to shoplift “fifteen Milky Ways” (a chocolate bar) before being stopped by the cashier.
The post turns out to be a copypasta — an obscure one, at that.
A copypasta is a block of text copied and pasted (hence the name) on social media and online forums. Common examples of Pinoy copypasta are usually spam comments messages , such as the ones below:
si optimus prime ay isang magiting na lider ng autobots. siya ay naghahanap ng mga bagong kasama. ipasa mo to sa 8 kaibigan at ikaw ay magiging transformers. wag kang tumawa, yung tropa ko, tricycle na

Copypasta is often used for humor. But the joke doesn’t always land, and sometimes can be damaging. This was what happened in the case of Ileiad’s post, which was reportedly lifted from the niche online forum 4chan and edited to include Mon’s name.
Despite his medium-sized following, Ileiad’s post gained enough traction to reach people who know Mon personally. According to the actor, friends have contacted him and asked if the story is true, which led him to discover the libelous post.
Mon asked Ileiad to take down the post, commenting on the original post that the incident “never happened” and that it was “not funny.”
“You are ruining my name. Kahit ‘copypasta’ ito! Not everyone will understand this,” the actor wrote, adding that he would resort to legal action.
Even after the actor reached out to him through private messages, Ileiad did not take down the post. “It’s not my interntion to tarnish you image in anyway. Like what they said in the comments, it’s a joke, although I do agree with you that not everyone will understand it,” the content creator told the actor.
This led Mon to post about the issue publicly to clear his name. “Ayoko na sana patulan itong certain Ileiad na ito… pero tama pa ba ang ginagawa ng mga content creator na ito? Gumawa ng story using my name & my photo.”
“Joke daw ito at ito ay ‘Copypasta’ at biglang nilagyan ng ‘disclaimer’ ang post nya pero huli na,” the actor continued. “Pero hindi pa din inaalis ang post nya. Joke at my expense? Joke pero nakakasira ng tao?”
After facing backlash, Ileiad finally removed the post and issued a public apology: “Sir Confiado, I know we got off the wrong foot here, and I sincerely apologize. … I should have deleted the post when you asked me to. We can shake on it or not; I just don’t want this to go any further.”
However, Mon found the apology “sarcastic” and “not sincere.”
True to his promise, the actor has taken legal action, filing an official complaint against the content creator with the National Bureau of Investigation’s cybercrime unit. Mon emphasized that not everyone would recognize Ileiad’s post as a “copypasta,” which is usually only known among people who have more exposure to the internet.
Many personalities applauded the actor’s decision to push through with legal action.
Actress Alma Concepcion agreed that it was right to guard his name and reputation as an actor. “BRAVO!! Pangalan at talento lang ang puhunan natin. And we will guard it in ALL WAYS.”
“Solid, Sir. This will be a very good example and lesson for those in the social media space. I know court proceedings take time, energy and resources, but thank you for taking a stand,” host Eri Neeman commented. “I hope this serves as a reminder for those who upload on a public space that certain actions have real-world consequences.”
“This is such a hassle for you, but I am so happy you are pushing through with this,” voice talent Inka Magnaye wrote. “Let this be the head on a stake outside the castle walls that serves as an example.”
A lot of netizens also expressed praise for Mon’s decision to resort to legal action.
“Satirical posts are SO not for the Pinoy audience of Facebook. And when confronted by the subject of his copypasta, he just had to reply condescendingly snotty. Ayan, face the consequences,” one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.
I hope Sir Mon Confiado make it real and not withdraw the case. Too much leniency on people like this Jeff Jacinto breeds the likes of clowns in socmed

Many Filipinos online are not aware of these “copypastas”, especially obscure ones, just like this X (formerly Twitter) user who nearly believed Ileiad’s copypasta post.
And that is exactly why Mon Confiado is pursuing this case. Gaya mo, maraming di naman siya kilala at posibleng maniwala sa mga paninira just because they don’t know him.

Jeff Jacinto, a.k.a. Ileiad, is trying to appeal to Mon to withdraw the cybercrime complaint. According to Rappler, the content creator messaged the actor, pleading with Mon to “discourage the people harassing me,” claiming he has been harrassed with death threats and doxxing.
“Not foreseeing the repercussions, I wish I could have just taken it down the moment I saw him [Confiado] in the comments,” the content creator told Rappler, adding that “it was a big mistake” not to have done so.
As of writing, the actor has not publicly responded to Ileiad’s pleas.
