Get your disco shoes on and join the cast of Bongga Ka Day as they take you back in time with their lively musical. Bonnga Ka Day is an original Filipino musical that will feature the ’70s band Hotdog, all the better to tap your toes to. Rodgers and Hammerstein brings you a story of love and sacrifice in Carousel. When carousel barker Billy Bidgelow (Gian Magdangal) falls in love with a young mill worker Julie (Nikki Gil), they don’t expect the consequences of their sudden romance. One dark night Billy makes a decision that changes their lives forever. Carousel will run from May 1-24, 2020 at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati City. For tickets, visit TicketWorld.
First staged in 2013, the stage adaptation of the 2005 indie film Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros tells the story of Maxie, a young gay boy who lives in his slums. When two men attempt to molest Maxie, he is saved by Victor, a young police officer. This marks the start of their friendship. Returning cast members Roeder Camañag, Nazer Salcedo, Jay Gonzaga, Greg de Leon, Jules Dela Paz, and Elliot Eustacio, who are all are set to tell Maxie’s story once more. Maxie the Musical will open in July 2020 at Hyundai Hall, Areté of Ateneo de Manila University.
Based on the film with the same title, Dekada ’70 is the story of the Bartolome Family in the aftermath of the declaration of Martial Law. The musical will run from February 21 to March 8, 2020 at The Doreen Black Box, Areté in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City.
The story of a five-year-old girl with the gift of telekinesis is now coming to the Manila stage. Based on the book by Roald Dahl, Matilda is a musical about a young girl who uses her special power to help her teacher Miss Honey fight mean Miss Trunchbull.
