Studies claim that chewing gum can improve your mental alertness, as well as promoting well-being and work performance. When choosing a gum flavor, mint is a good option since smelling peppermint may improve your memory. Who knew gum would come this handy?

 

3. Turn on the lights!

Being a deer in headlights is a good thing if you plan on staying up all night. A bright light can signal our brains to stay awake. Aside from your working screen, bringing your lampshade closer to you can kick off your mental alertness.

 

2. Bank a few sleeping time before your work binge.

Since you’ll be depriving yourself some rest, you can “cheat” by taking as much nap beforehand. It’s actually better than taking one in the middle of an all-nighter, as you might crash altogether then. Here is a guide for the perfect kind of nap your brain needs.

 

1. Too much caffeine will hurt

Coffee is a classic choice for those who need to keep their bodies awake, but this so-called all-nighters’ “best friend” can be a traitor if you rely on it too much. Apparently, having more cups of coffee will not do the trick, so you better have a maximum of two cups to keep your focus intact and not get these effects. It’s also good to chug a glass of water after taking your coffee to keep you hydrated.
