Paolo was married to former EB Babes member Lian Paz but after four years they split. He has two daughters with her, Xonia and Xalene, 11 and 10 years old respectively. After that, he got in a six-year-long relationship with LJ, with whom he shares a daughter, 2-year-old Summer.

One netizen didn’t mince words when they commented that the actor needed therapy “to address that void you’ve been wanting to fill by cheating on your partners.”

Paolo’s first point in his apology is that he isn’t involved in drugs. He “never laid a finger” on his ex-partners or kids. Netizens stress that while Paolo didn’t physically abuse them, emotional scars run deeper than physical wounds.

“Ganyan din linya ni Paolo dun sa una niyang asawa,” read one Facebook comment written three years ago. Never underestimate the gut feelings of the Aling Mariteses on social media.
And it looks like Paolo himself unknowingly made a Bubble Gang skit before about cheating and kabit which netizens managed to unearth:
OMG! I just unearthed a scene from bubble gang AND ANG ACCURATE LANG???!?

Not so funny anymore, right?

Third parties, as its name suggests, need a third person for it to work. Some netizens express dismay over the third party that broke Paolo and LJ apart. Although Paolo attempted to clear her name, many still believe that the woman involved is Yen. But even if she isn’t, whoever it is, netizens are still disappointed. “Women who allow themselves to be sidechicks are the worst breed,” one tweet read. “Real men cannot be stolen and decent women do not steal.”

“Yen Santos – She was never the reason of our break up. I was,” Paolo writes for his third point in his apology. But netizens refuse to take his word for it. Especially after a video made rounds online of Paolo walking the streets of Baguio with Yen clinging on his arm. The actor explained that after LJ left for the States, he went to Baguio to clear his head and invited Yen for a day since she was in the area. “She went there as a friend,” said Paolo.

It’s safe to say that most Pinoys have been on LJ’s side since the issue came to light. “LJ and the kids deserve better,” one netizen wrote on Facebook. Some also slammed Paolo on his apology calling it “nothing but a gaslighting to LJ Reyes.”

Netizens have mostly been on LJ’s side since the issue started.

Netizens also berated Paolo about how he has introduced his daughters at a young age to what a broken family is. “Baby Summer, pag-laki mo mag ingat ka sa mga katulad ng papa mo ah,” read one netizen’s comment on Facebook. Many also expressed their sympathy for Aki.

Aki is LJ’s 11-year-old son with actor Paulo Avelino. Even though he isn’t Paolo’s biological son, during his relationship with LJ, he managed to form a bond with the child and earned his trust. Paolo had posted numerous photos and videos having fun with Aki over the years. Now, all of those have been erased from his social media. After the split, LJ shared that she apologized to Aki about how she couldn’t keep their family complete. Aki simply told her, “You complete us, mom!”

To netizens that have been witnesses to the Bea-Gerald-Julia and Devon-Kiko-Heaven fiasco online, this scene feels all too familiar. The couple break up, rumors of a third party follow, those involved vehemently deny everything, and what do you know, months later, the relationship is confirmed. We’ve seen it all.
Some Pinoys have also called out the fans who are invested in these issues to leave celebrities and their private lives alone. The thing is, celebrities are respected figures who many people look up to. If we don’t call them out, will this kind of behavior be normalized?
