A viral TikTok video warns Pinoys to be wary of what seems to be a new modus in Glorietta. While it isn’t clear what these men want from their victims, it is clear that everyone — especially women — needs to be wary in public. Thankfully, Glorietta management was made aware of the situation and they’re taking measures to ensure mallgoers’ safety.

TikTok user Nikki Yazon said the man who suddenly approached her while she was walking alone around Glorietta initially complimented her. He told her she was “really pretty” and “really beautiful” and complimented her “chill aura.”
According to her viral TikTok video, the man introduced himself and then proceeded to ask personal questions like where she studied and where she lived. Sensing this could be a scam or modus, Nikki had the presence of mind to give the man fake details.
He then proceeded to invite her for coffee, and she immediately sensed something was wrong so she declined.
“He was also telling me, while he was doing his own spiel, ‘I’m not a scammer ha!” said Nikki. Eventually, she got out of the conversation.
As of writing, her video has reached more than 493k views and 17.8k likes.
“The reason I’m speaking up about this on TikTok is because this is not the first time this happened to me in Glorietta, that’s why I’m kind of freaked out about this,” continued Nikki.
“The other time I was in Glorietta… another guy approached me with more or less the same spiel as this guy, just a different format.”
Nikki recounted how the first guy approached her and told her she looked like she had a “stressed aura.” He also claimed to be a fortune teller which initially intrigued her and caught her off guard. Nikki said she started to “open up to him” which she later agreed was “kinda dumb of [her].”
But when the guy asked her to go grab coffee, warning bells immediately went off in her head.
“Anong klaseng modus to? Bago ba to na hindi ko alam? Scam ba to? Or am I just overthinking? Maybe it’s just a coincidence,” asked Nikki.
“It’s really creepy that it’s literally the same spiel with a different format. Glorietta doesn’t feel so safe anymore if people keep approaching me with random spiels about my aura,” she added.
Is it a new Glorietta modus or is it just two coincidences that happened to her? Either way, fellow TikTok users repeated warnings and reminders in the comments section for everyone’s safety.
“I don’t ever talk to strangers in Metro Manila. Trust your gut feel,” read one comment.
“My mantra in life: Mabuti na masungit, safe naman. I never look at strangers IF they manage to start a convo with me. Kahit legit [question], I don’t entertain,” said another.
Another TikTok user shared her experience when she was followed by a creepy guy in Glorietta:
“Experienced the same thing back in 2019, as in he was [following] me to [different] stores pa [tapos] the only time he stopped was when I was asking help from [the] guard,” she commented. The guy even told her he was “just trying to make friends”.

A few days after Nikki’s story went viral on TikTok, it reached someone working for Glorietta. Management even found the CCTV footage of the incident. After Nikki profiled the guy who approached her, Glorietta said the next time the man steps foot in the mall, he will be “invited to the security office for questioning.”
“We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us. The well-being of all our mall visitors are of utmost importance,” wrote Glorietta to Nikki. “We’ve taken action regarding the individual who approached you and have informed our security team to ensure the safety of everyone in case of any future incidents at the mall.”
“Thank you, as well, Glorietta for acting on this and I really hope that the place will be safer from hereon for women, especially,” continued Nikki.
Someone who allegedly worked at Glorietta before confirmed that the management takes these incidents seriously. “I [used] to work in [Glorietta] last year and they [really] caught bad guys [before]. Security there [are] friendly and approachable just catch their attention,” they wrote.
