8 Big News the PBB Housemates Don’t Know About Since Entering Bahay Ni Kuya

May 15, 2025   •   Meryl Medel

On March 9, fifteen celebrities entered Bahay Ni Kuya to become housemates in the much-awaited reopening of the iconic yellow house. Five more joined them over the following weeks for the Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition. It has only been a little over two months, but much has happened here in the so-called outside world, and most of the housemates have no clue about what’s gone down. In case you’re curious, here’s a recap of some of the big news that the PBB housemates have missed since entering Bahay Ni Kuya.

Former president Rodrigo Duterte was arraigned in The Hague

The first batch of housemates entered Bahay Ni Kuya on March 9, and just two days later, on March 11, former president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested under an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant charging him with crimes against humanity related to the Philippine drug war. He has since been detained in The Hague, waiting for his trial in the International Criminal Court.

Kim Soo-hyun received widespread backlash over grooming allegations with the late actress Kim Saeron

On March 10, YouTube channel Hoverlab ignited a controversy alleging that actor Kim Soo-hyun had a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron starting in 2015 when she was 15, while he was 27. This sparked widespread backlash against Kim Soo-hyun, with accusations of grooming and an inappropriate relationship with a minor. While the actor initially denied having a relationship with the late actress, he later admitted that they dated for about a year. However, brands have since dropped him as an endorser, with a few even suing him for damages.

Around this time, the housemates have just entered the house and are still adjusting.

Dennis Padilla drew flak over his rant about his daughter Claudia’s wedding

On April 8, Claudia Barretto married her longtime partner Basti Lorenzo in an intimate ceremony. Her estranged father Dennis Padilla later took to social media to express his hurt and disappointment for allegedly being informed of the wedding late and feeling like an outsider, stating he was invited merely as a “visitor.”

In a now-deleted post, Dennis Padilla shared a handwritten note which read: “Grabe kayo!! Nabudol ‘nyo ko! Father of the bride naging visitor! Galing ‘nyo!” This rant drew backlash from netizens, with many coming to Claudia’s defense.
