No To Filipino Time:  What Happens When You Manage Your Time Well?

There’s a super-abundance of self-help articles about achieving success. But you don’t really have to plumb the secrets of the universe  or go into zen consciousness for that. There’s really only one main secret behind every successful person: they know how to manage their time.

It sounds simple but it takes tremendous effort and discipline. Time, ultimately, defeats us all. Until then, the only thing we really have of value is time; what it’s spent on and, more importantly, who it’s spent with.

Here’s 8 great things that happen when you become the master of your own time.

8. You learn how to say “NO”

Gone are the days where you just say “yes” to every invitation. Being aware of time means you’re ready to say “no” to those come-ons when you already made prior commitments. It may be snobbish, but people who truly respect their time and others’ time will understand.

7. You wake up early.

Waking up early is an open secret that successful people will always point out. It’s a repetitive advice but early birds who wake up at around 4:30a.m. will obviously have a head start in doing their tasks—plain and simple.

6. You realize you can only do so much in a day.

When you’re truly aware that a day is really only  24 hours, you’ll be shocked at how little time you have to do things. It can get frustrating but, as they say, the truth hurts.

5. You get rewired for priorities.

A constant reminder that you only have 24-hours a day allows you to focus on priorities, therefore allowing you to do things more efficiently throughout the day.
