Always up for an adventure, a North boy is the perfect person to go out and around town with—just as long as they don’t have to deal with traffic. Ever creatures of comfort, South boys are more picky about where to hang out and would much rather stay in familiar territory (aka their couch) if they can help it.
There are, of course, always exceptions to the rule, but North boys tend to be more action-oriented when it comes to romance. Their idea of ligaw is picking you up from work and putting up with your crazy friends for an afternoon.
South boys tend to be more verbal with their affection, so you can count on long messages and routine checks on how you’re doing throughout the day.
Remember that weird North boys defense mechanism of not taking things seriously until they’re secure? That’s because North boys, for all their humor, wit and brusko language, are more conservative deep down inside. They’re looking for serious relationships, but don’t take as many risks when it comes to feelings, hence the less traditional and more laid back approach to dating. When it comes to the sowing of wild oats, territory plays no part.
Textbook approach or not, South boys tend to be more liberated and, you know, down for “whatever,” but rest assured that when they find someone they like, the cocky playboy disappears and a charming, romantic and more traditional guy takes his place.
No, not marriage, although that might apply as well. With North boys being the no-pressure, tentative creatures that they are, asking you to be their girlfriend can be as underwhelming as asking “Ano ba tayo?” or “Tayo na ba?” while you’re walking through the mall, or posting it on Facebook with a “kung papayag eh di great, if hindi eh di break” mentality.
With South boys, asking you to be their girlfriend can turn into an entire production to rival that of a marriage proposal, asking you with a very formal and nausea-inducing “will you be my girlfriend?”
