Following a successful run last year, the Ortigas Vertical Cinema Contest is back for its second year. Filmmakers can shoot a 2-minute short film in portrait orientation with their smartphone exploring the theme “Kamusta Ka?” The theme is in reflection on life in the past two years of the pandemic. The contest is open to any individual residing in the Philippines with a deadline for entries on July 31, 2022. Find out more about the mechanics here.

Ortigas Art Festival will award 10 Short Films. The first, second, and third placers will win P15,000, P10,000, and P5,000 respectively while the rest of the Top 7 will receive P2,000 each.

Ramon Santos, pride of Pasig City for being a National Artist for Music, will be holding a special exhibit on the 2nd Level, showcasing a wide variety of art forms and artistry to foster an appreciation for Filipino art and artists. Mr. Santos is a composer, conductor, and musicologist, who is currently the country’s foremost exponent of contemporary Filipino music.

“What we want in this year’s iteration is to introduce Filipinos to the works of some of the country’s best while stoking their interest and appreciation for Philippine art,” said Helen Mirasol, art patron and one of the co-founders of Ortigas Art Festival. “This is a month-long celebration of our art and artists where everyone is invited–no matter if you’re an art connoisseur or a regular person who wants to find the art form that will speak to their soul. Everyone is welcome at Ortigas Art Festival.”

The Ortigas Art Festival 2022 runs from July 7 to August 7 at the Estancia East Wing, Capitol Commons, Pasig City. Admission is free.
