Attention: the most highly anticipated multiplayer game of the year is now available on the market! This is not a drill! Repeat, this is not a drill!
But seriously. For the yet to be initiated, Overwatch is a multiplayer six on six shooter with cartoony graphics and extra smooth gameplay. Blizzard, which hasn’t released an original game in over a decade, now gives us what promises to be a game that people will be playing for years to come. With over 21 characters in different roles to choose from, beautiful maps, different game modes and a thriving online community, Overwatch is already a huge success. The game has gotten tons of positive reviews since its BETA and release, which makes gamers excited to join in on the fun. Here are some reasons to play Overwatch, just in case you needed any more convincing.
Enter the game through a tutorial mode and play with AI’s until tested and proven. Once you’ve mastered the skills required to beat the AI’s, it’s time to enter the real battle ground of online multiplayer. As a first person shooter, Overwatch definitely surpasses the standards.
Overwatch divides its characters into four types: offense, defense, support, and tank. Being a six on six shooter, choosing the right character for the team is paramount. You can’t just go into battle with six offensive characters and expect to win. You have to distribute roles accordingly and play each role properly if you expect to get anything out of a match. This is where the 21 different characters will make the game very exciting. With countless combinations of characters, the possibilities are endless.
The option to switch characters in-game is also a big factor—much like changing formations in a real sport. If you’re trailing behind by a large margin, it would be smart to go for a more offensive lineup. The same logic goes for when you are trying to protect a lead. It’s better to lineup a defensive roster with minimal firepower to slowly inch to victory.
There are a lot of ways to win in Overwatch, but strategy and teamwork will always be your best friends.
