When he joined the ranks of flowering knights in Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth

Let’s get real: Hwarang isn’t the best historical drama out there, but it sure has enough eye candies to keep our eyes glued to the screen no matter how cringy the story got. In this series, Park Hyung-sik stars alongside Park Seo-jun, SHINee’s Minho, and BTS’s V—among others—as a young king who goes under the guise of a nobleman to escape assassination attempts and understand the true struggles of commoners during his reign. 

When he looked stupidly in love as Min-min in Strong Girl Bong-soon

Arguably his most iconic role yet, Park Hyung-sik as Ahn Min-hyuk in the cult favorite Strong Girl Bong-soon repeatedly sent our hearts into a kilig coma with his crazy antics that no other actor can possibly pull off the way he did—from his uber-extra entrance scenes to tossing, turning, and flipping in bed while exchanging sweet messages with the cute-but-deadly Bong-soon (Park Bo-young). Ah, Min-min, you will forever be reaction meme-worthy!

When he starred in the South Korean remake of Suits

In 2018, Park Hyung-sik took a break from romance, accepting a more serious role in the South Korean version of the American series Suits, and he did not disappoint! In the show, he goes by Go Yeon-woo, a young genius and aspiring attorney recruited by a top lawyer from a prestigious law firm. 

When he made a post-military comeback as a zombie-fighting cop in Happiness

Park Hyung-sik’s comeback to K-Dramaland proved to be well worth the wait as he made headlines with co-star and hallyu heavyweight Han Hyo-joo for the exciting post-apocalyptic drama Happiness. Shedding his usual cutesy, boyish image, he takes on the role of Jung Yi-hyun, a detective driven by wits and honesty who enters a contractual marriage with his high school crush, just before their posh apartment becomes ground 0 of an infectious disease outbreak. 

When he set hearts aflutter in Soundtrack #1

Returning to the romance genre, Park Hyung-sik pairs up with Han So-hee for Soundtrack #1. The four-episode drama follows the story of long-time friends, who slowly realize their romantic feelings towards each other as they are forced by circumstances to live together for two weeks. 

When he took a step back in time (again) for Our Blooming Youth

The sageuk Our Blooming Youth did not make a lot of buzz during its run, but those who’ve seen it can attest that it’s one of the most watch-worthy recent historical dramas out there. Here, Park Hyung-sik slips into the role of a prickly cursed crown prince, who crosses paths with a noblewoman (Jeon So-nee) accused of murdering her entire family. 

When he made a scene-stealing cameo on Strong Girl Nam-soon

Six years after starring in Strong Girl Bong-soon, Park Hyung-sik made a cameo with Park Bo-young in the series’ 2023 spin-off Strong Girl Nam-soon. With just three minutes of screen time, he reminded viewers why ~the~ Ahn Min-hyuk is ~the~ standard for charming loser male leads. 

When he reunited with Park Shin-hye for Doctor Slump

Fans who couldn’t get enough of Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye’s chaotic banters in The Heirs are in for a treat with the ongoing series Doctor Slump. More than a medical drama, this heartwarming series brings a sense of comfort to those who think they’ve hit rock bottom through the stories of Yeo Jeong-woo and Nam Ha-neul, two overachieving doctors whose careers take an unexpectedly bad turn. 

New episodes of Doctor Slump go live on Netflix every Saturday and Sunday at 11 PM.
