The 8 People You Can Throw Your Birthday Cake At (Instead of Innocent Bystanders)

The act of smearing or even smashing cake on a person’s face during birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations has been around for a while. But is there really an acceptable time to do it? And who would you even smear cake on? Of course, not just anyone, unlike what Alex Gonzaga did to the service crew holding her cake at her birthday party. The viral video of the actress-vlogger suddenly smearing cake icing on the service crew’s forehead had netizens condemning her unprovoked action. Many say that what she did would’ve been more acceptable if she did it to people she had close relationships with, as long as there was consent. But it seemed that even the service crew guy was surprised when he got cake smeared on his face. Yikes.

So if you’re planning to try cake smearing on your birthday, these are the people you can throw your cake at — probably, and only if you get their consent!
Your partner might find it cute and even smear some back on you. Keyword: might.
Maybe you want to thank them for giving birth to you and raising you? Although that’s a weird way to show your gratitude . . .
Relive old sibling fights from your childhood days with a cake smear on the face. Just be ready to get some cake on yourself, too.
Hopefully, your friendship is strong enough that you won’t go from “best friends forever” to “friendship over” because you smeared their face with cake . . .
Just in case you want to get your cake smeared on a lot of people, I guess . . . ?
Especially if they dare come to your birthday party . . .
Before you think about smearing cake on someone else’s face, ask yourself if you’d want it to be done to you. If your answer is no, don’t do it to anyone! If your answer is yes, you can skip the guesswork and just smear it on yourself. This way, you get to smear cake on a face like you wanted, and you don’t bother anyone else! Ginusto mo naman yan.
Or you know, just don’t do it. Don’t smear or smash cake on anyone. (And never the service crew employee who is simply working hard to bring your food to you.)
Because. first of all, it’s a waste of cake — of food! Even if you aren’t fond of sweets, some of your guests have probably been looking forward to eating cake. And smearing or smashing cake on someone just renders that cake inedible. And second, it’s unhygienic. Even if you just smear only a part of the cake, you’re still touching the food with your bare hands that might have held who knows what (like your phone, which is full of germs). Urgh.
Just eat the cake and enjoy it!
