A serial surrealist painter, artist Jonas Eslao will show a new side of him in his upcoming show Beyond; where he will unveil a makeshift altar installation containing a set of glass jars holding animal sculptures drowned in wax. This is the first time that he will dabble with other art forms to flesh out ideas from his “inner world.” By packaging wild creatures into containers, Eslao aims to send across the message that animals also deserve the proper burial we give to humans. In his new show, Eslao questions religious practices that involve animal massacre and other ambiguous post-death rituals.
Opening: 3pm, February 6, 2016 | Palette Knife Painting Workshop: 1pm-4pm, February 11, 2016
Where: Art Informal | 277 Connecticut Street, Greenhills East, Mandaluyong City, Philippines

A French figurative painter, Henri Lamy will hold a show with live painting, and a workshop for kids in collaboration with Museo Pambata Foundation Inc. and Stairway Foundation, Inc. Inspired by Jackson Pollock’s drip painting, Motions and Emotions: Exhibit and Children’s Workshop with Henri Lamy is a series of expressive compositions constructed using a palette knife stroked through elaborate kinetic movements. He incorporated a capoeira dance in his painting performance last Feb 6, making his works look abstract up close and figurative from a distance.
Lamy is a member of the artistic squat 59 Rivoli, and has exhibited in various cities across the world, like Paris, Nanjing, Beijing, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Geneva, Beirut and Bangkok. He will donate proceeds of the show to partner foundations.
Opening: 10am, February 18, 2016
Where: 5/F- 7/F The Link, Makati
Fee: P150
