After nearly two years, Taeyeon recently returned to Manila to see her Filipino fans, whom she lovingly calls “beshies.” We’re sure Filipino SONEs (her fans’ nickname) will never forget this night, and here’s why:
ICYDK, this concert tour is actually in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Taeyeon’s debut as a solo artist. The songstress delivered several performances of her chart-topping hits from her debut song “I” to her latest single “Letter to Myself.”
“It’s the 10th year of my debut as a solo [artist] this year. That’s why our show tonight, I actually had it directed towards this 10th-year anniversary theme, so it really means a lot to me,” Taeyeon said through an interpreter.
Her 25-song setlist allowed the songstress to showcase her different sides — from being a heavenly angel hitting all the right high notes to a seductive devil performing sultry choreography to even the fun, energetic Taengoo that we all know and love.
In celebration of her decade-long solo career, Taeyeon showed fans many sides of herself — all the past, present, and future tenses of Kim Taeyeon.
One thing that would never fail to elevate is a live band, and Taeyeon knows that. So she brought with her a touring band full of talented members, whose music when paired with Taeyeon’s angelic voice raises the bar high for any live show.
On top of the music, each second of the show was mesmerizing thanks to the high-level production of each stage. From the LED backgrounds and lifts and platforms to the energetic dancers and gorgeous outfits to the lights and props, everything is so elaborate and well-done that we couldn’t say anything else except “sobrang ganda.”
To close the gap, Taeyeon herself does her best effort to speak in English to communicate with her fans better. She sometimes even tries to speak in Filipino, and so cutely, too!
At the start of the show, the crowd chanted “beshie”, a Filipino slang for “best friend” which local fans have called her before and which Taeyeon herself loved.
“Beshie? I remember,” the singer said.
Taeyeon even remembers how loud the cheers of Manila SONEs are, complimenting them throughout the show, presented by PULP Live World.
“In my memory, this is the place with one of the best cheers in the world,” she said, only to be met with louder cheers from the crowd.
“Wow! I guess you guys have louder voices compared to me,” she even joked.
Of course, Taeyeon also couldn’t help but point to notable fans in the crowd, such as a fan who wore a suit adorned with lights to create a pink stick figure and another who wore an egg costume mimicking a huge version of her Taenggeu egg doll.
“I think because there’s lots of cute and funny fans, it makes the vibe so much better,” Taeyeon said.
She also noted how cute the Taenggeu egg-shaped fan banner is, and she even received a personalized one, which read: “Singing for SONE is my perfect heaven.”
The night of March 29, 2025 is definitely a heavenly memory both Taeyeon and SONE will always remember. “We are beshie,” the singer affirmed. “Beshie tayo forever.”
“I’m very grateful that I’m able to spend this time with you and I hope that you can actually remember this for a very, very long time,” Taeyeon added. “Salamat po. Masaya ako.”
