Filipinos are experts at channeling their creativity and passion and turning them into the most impressive ventures. Pinoy streetwear brands are just one of the playful outlets we’ve seen in recent years. Have you scrolled through the catalogs of local brands like Skoop and DBTK lately? It will tell you two things — (1) Pinoy youth will always love brave and bold designs and (2) you need to upgrade your wardrobe ASAP. Keep up with the swag! Here are a few local streetwear brands that will help you step up your aesthetic OOTD game:
DBTK or Don’t Blame the Kids was founded in 2012 by brothers Emil and Vincent Javier. Since then it has become a staple in the local streetwear scene with the brand expanding its catalog from graphic apparel to accessories like necklaces and keychains. Go bold with the Liga Tee (PHP 900), a white tee featuring graphics that pay homage to the Filipinos’ love for basketball, or go simple with the DBTK X: Ringer Tee (PHP 950), a combination of embroidery and print with pops of color.
You can shop DBTK apparel online or visit one of its official stockists, Bratpack in Greenbelt 5.
SNK ATK (pronounced “Sneak Attack”) pieces are designed in the Philippines in small batches which explains why their best pieces are often sold out. Some are even handcrafted like the Umbra Noragi Jacket, making each one a truly one-of-a-kind piece. This statement outerwear features a boxy silhouette in noragi styling a.k.a. traditional Japanese garments that are open-banded in the front. It’s made with functionality in mind and designed for tropical weather with strategically-placed storm vents and side zippers to keep you cool. And if you’re wondering what those straps are for, they’re adaptable double-strap slings so you can easily carry your Umbra Noragi Jacket anywhere backpack-style.
The Umbra Noragi Jacket is available in black (online) and green (exclusively at Bratpack Greenbelt 5) for PHP 10,499. Pair it with the TANTO Technical Trousers (PHP 8,999) and grab a cool ENEMY MkIII Hoodie (PHP 2,699) while you’re at it.
Shirt lovers can agree, Coziest has one of the best local streetwear designs out there. They’re simple tees but the graphic design that goes from minimalist to complex can turn quite a few heads. Their exclusive drop at Bratpack’s 25th Anniversary Local Capsule Collection features Cozy World elements in brown and black shirt versions. Coziest also proved they could go down the classic route too with their latest drop, the “Harley,” a premium black leather jacket with embroidered logos on the front and back.
You can shop Coziest apparel at their flagship store in San Andres, Manila, or at Bratpack Greenbelt 5. They are also on Shopee.
Secret Fresh (formerly Freshmanila) was founded in 2007 and is one of the country’s premiere art galleries that has evolved into a style brand. They even have an awesome sneaker collab with World Balance. Get discounts on Secret Fresh apparel, accessories, bags, and footwear at their online stores. Their newest drop, the Mahal Kita, How Much Tees even had its exclusive new colorway release at Culture Cartel at Scape, Singapore in early December 2022.

When it comes to local streetwear, you can bet everyone has a Skoop Kommunity piece already in their wardrobe or is thinking of adding one. Inspired by Japanese design and culture, Skoop has released hundreds of versatile pieces, each one made with quality materials to last the wearer years. TBH, there are so many snazzy designs, we can’t pick one we like best! But if you want lasting pieces you can mix and match with anything, go for their Skoop Basiks Collection in monotone tops and bottoms.

It steadily climbed its way to become one of the best Pinoy streetwear brands. It has made successful collaborations in the past with brands like Disney, Nickelodeon, Marvel, and even with South Korean entertainment company SMTOWN. Bratpack’s Play Fest Event launched its “Press Play Campaign” last November 30 bringing all of these local brands together for a Local Capsule Collection. The campaign proved that the warmth, essence, and importance of community remains even though we were disconnected and isolated in so many ways for the past few years. The event also included a Creators’ Play Talk segment, live art by Tita Keks and Bryan Yabut, and live performances by up-and-coming artists such as Amiel Aban and DENŸ.
Stay in the loop by looking up Bratpack PH hashtags #BratpackPlayFest, #BratpackPressPlay, and #BratpackPH and know more about Bratpack by following @bratpackph on Instagram and Facebook.
