By now, we’ve probably said a thing or two about Poblacion Girl and her partying ways. Nobody’s saying it’s not irresponsible to bypass health protocols just because of boredom, especially since she ended up spreading COVID-19 to a bunch of people.

But here’s the thing: as angry as we are with her, there’s so much more at play that we need to understand — and be just as angry about.

8. Once again, rules work only for people who can’t afford to break them.

Whether you are rich or powerful, rules don’t apply to you. They may try to make an example out of Poblacion Girl and really throw the book at her, but everyone else who can break health protocols and get away with it will just be more discreet about it next time.

The reason these people don’t fear harsh punishment is they know that no matter how harsh the punishment is, it’s not coming for them.

7. We are surrounded by people in power who do this all the time.

… and making excuses for them. Come. On!

6. They are turning her into a political talking point.

Imagine painting her a political color and then using her as a way to turn off voters from a candidate. It’s ridiculous when you think about it, because no matter what color of politics you hold fast to, there are assholes on your side of the fence. On every side of the fence, even.

5. We didn’t go on lockdown over just one person.

We went on (ANOTHER) lockdown because from a few hundred, we went to nearly a couple of thousand cases again practically overnight. She certainly contributed more than her fair share to that, but there’s definitely so much more at play, and we all know who’s to blame for these new spikes.
