8 Things You Need to Know to Become a Pokémaster

4. Know your area

The locations of Pokémons are determined by their habitat. Say, water-based Pokémons can be found near bodies of water i.e. ponds, lakes, the beach. Grass-based Pokémons are plentiful at parks, while Fire-baesd Pokémons can be found at gas stations.

Sometimes you’ll also find Pokémons out of place; it’s just that pokémons are densely populated in their own habitats.

3. Catching and Evolving a Pokémon

Catching your first few Pokémons can be easy, but you’ll eventually encounter tough Pokémons as you level up. When that happens, keep calm, concentrate and remember:

  • Turn off the AR slider: You don’t have to move your phone around to catch a Pokémon—you’ll have a static screen instead, where you only need to focus on throwing the Pokéball.
  • The colored circles mean something: Green means an easy catch while Yellow and Red means that it will be difficult.
  • You’ll notice the colored circle changes in size: It’s best to release the ball when the colored circle is at its smallest.

Here’s a comprehensive guide to evolving your Pokémon.

2. Pay attention to Pokéstops

Pokéstops are your hospitals. These Pokéstops are usually located at important landmarks. Don’t hesitate to proceed to these places (unless located on private property) because it’ll contain handy items such as Pokéballs and potions.

These Pokéstops will refresh about every five minutes. Stack up the items that you can collect from each Pokéstop before you resume your journey.

1. Be alert at all times.

It’s amazing that our dreams of becoming a Pokémon trainer are finally going to be realized, but there’s also the real-life Team Rocket—the entity that thwarts all your plans in-game, and yes, they also exist in the real world.

A good number of cases have reported that some trainers have been robbed while hunting for pokémons (this statement would sound ridiculous a few years back).

Be alert, don’t drive and catch, and let go of your phone when crossing the street. A true Pokémaster knows where and when to catch Pokémons.
