Thanks to phenomenal groups like SB19, MNL48, and BGYO, P-pop is gaining attention not only from Pinoys but from fans across the globe too. Pinoys are undeniably talented and these groups prove that. The two-day P-pop Convention early this year is a stark example. And now, ABS-CBN has partnered with Korean agencies to form the next hottest P-pop boy group set to debut in Korea. Here’s how you can shoot your shot.
Starhunt, ABS-CBN’s premier grand audition platform, inked a deal with MLD Entertainment and Kamp Korea Inc. for a reality talent search show called Dream Maker. The show’s goal is to produce the next global all-male pop group.
Excited yet? To make things even better, MLD Entertainment are the folks who launched K-pop sensations MOMOLAND and Lapillus. The latter even has a Filipina member, Chantal Videla, who was also an actress and was part of the Star Circle Batch 2018.
MLD CEO Lee Hyoungjin believes that P-Pop is the next global phenomenon after K-pop. “I have seen so much talent in the P-pop side and just girls and boys who love to sing and dance. As K-Pop has become a global phenomenon, I believe that P-pop is the next,” he said.
As for ABS-CBN Head of TV Production and Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi, his goal is to bring Filipino talent to the global stage. “We are getting serious in getting to the international arena. We are looking at all ways and means to get Filipino artists and Filipino talents to be recognized globally.”
Dyogi also expressed excitement about having partners who can help Filipino talent get the recognition it deserves.
Dream Maker is looking for seven males to debut in Korea. Auditions are open for full or half Filipino male contestants aged 13-22 years old. They must have a talent for singing, dancing, or rapping. Know someone who fits the bill? Or maybe you tick all the boxes yourself. Head over to select malls and sign up for the physical audition and a chance to showcase your talent.
Those who win Dream Maker will be personally trained by established Korean idols as well as world-class Filipino mentors.
