Whether you’re hunting down the perfect engagement ring, shopping for a meaningful promise ring, or simply treating yourself to a timeless piece, Pristine Paradigm is a jewelry brand worth knowing.
This Davao-based store recently celebrated its second anniversary – a quiet but powerful reminder of the values it was built on: sustainability, accessibility, and love for the planet.
Founded by environmentalist Yani Batu and entrepreneur Juni Rollan, Pristine Paradigm set out to offer elegant, high-quality jewelry at fair prices using lab-grown gemstones. These stones aren’t just more affordable – they’re also a more ethical and eco-friendly choice. As part of their anniversary, the duo unveiled three new lab-grown gems that are just as stunning as they are sustainable.
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds created in a controlled environment that mimics the natural process. This means that, unlike mined diamonds, which would require extensive digging and will disrupt ecosystems, lab-grown diamonds are created faster but without the environmental toll. These gems leave a much smaller carbon footprint and don’t contribute to land degradation.
They are real diamonds with the same hardness, brilliance, and fire just without the environmental baggage. Side by side with a mined diamond, even trained eyes would have trouble telling the difference.
“The existence of lab-grown gemstones is like a lightbulb to me,” shared co-founder Batu during their anniversary press event.
Having grown up on a farm in Davao, Batu was raised on the principles of organic living and sustainable farming. A jewelry lover since childhood, she saw lab-grown gemstones as the perfect intersection of her passion and purpose. Her goal was to bring beautiful, planet-conscious jewelry closer to more Filipinos.
“We really just want our customers to achieve their dream jewelry,” Batu said. “If you want a three-carat diamond, you don’t need to spend millions. You can choose moissanite or a lab-grown diamond. What matters most is that you’re happy with your piece.”
To celebrate their second year, Pristine Paradigm introduced three new lab-grown gems.
There’s Alexandrite, a rare and beautiful gemstone that changes color under different lighting. Aquamarine, a dazzling gemstone in soft blue, crafted from lab-grown sapphire. There’s also Paraiba, a vibrant neon blue-to-green gemstone reminiscent of a calm blue sea glittering in the sunlight.
These three stones are stunningly beautiful, adding sophistication to any outfit and event. Whether worn on your ears, around your neck, or on your ring finger, these gems are elegant, modern, and mindful. The best part is that they offer luxury without the environmental impact.
Pristine Paradigm also recently expanded into a men’s collection, with wedding bands, promise rings, and stud earrings among the new additions.
Pristine Paradigm’s efforts don’t stop at lab-grown diamonds. Through their initiative, The Pristine Care, they’ve made sustainable choices at every level – from packaging to post-sale impact.
Deliveries come in unbranded, reusable hard boxes. Instead of plastic bubble wrap, items are wrapped in biodegradable honeycomb paper, sealed with plant-based tape and eco-friendly mailers. Whatever unavoidable plastic waste is responsibly recycled through partnerships with NCCC Cares and Envirotech Recycling Inc. in Davao and Green Trident in Manila.
Perhaps the most heartwarming part of their mission is their partnership with the Philippine Eagle Foundation. For every engagement ring sold, a tree is planted near Philippine eagle nesting sites, providing not only reforestation but livelihood support for local communities.
So far, they’ve planted 100 geo-tagged trees, with many more to come.
“It feels like we’re building more than just a brand,” said Rollan. “It’s starting to become a movement. Our customers are more open to what environmental sustainability means—and now, they have a way to act on it through the choices they make.”
With thousands of pieces sold nationwide, Batu expressed heartfelt appreciation for customers who’ve trusted Pristine Paradigm even without seeing the pieces in person. Apart from a few pop-ups in Metro Manila, the brand has been operating entirely online.
But that’s about to change. Rollan confirmed that Pristine Paradigm will be opening a physical showroom in Manila by the end of the year. Soon, customers can finally try on pieces and explore collections in person.
