Due to the pandemic, virtual has become the new normal. We can no longer simply ask our partners for spontaneous dates or schedule a quick weekend getaway, and maintaining your relationship becomes extra difficult when you’re not living together and you’re basically in an LDR. For those of us who rely on the internet to catch up with people close to us, simply chatting can get boring sometimes. Here are some fun quarantine date night ideas to close the distance.
This Google Chrome extension rapidly became a crowd favorite after its release. All you have to do is log in to your Netflix accounts and the extension would sync the playback to all users so you would be watching at the same time. It also allows chatting on the side, which makes watching more fun, especially when you’re watching a horror movie.
You’ve probably already use Airbnb to book accommodations on your travels book apartments, cottages, and even houses around the world. They recently introduced a new feature, Online Experiences, which allows you to book classes or workshops by expert hosts globally. Just because you can’t travel to Mexico now, it doesn’t mean you can’t learn how to make their cuisine at home! Classes are done via Zoom and they usually take an hour or two. Check their website for more information.
Last night I went to a party where everyone had to prepare a 3 minute lecture on something they were passionate about.

Yes, PowerPoints can be fun too, in the right context. Get you and your partner’s friends together and entertain each other with three-minute lectures on topics you’re passionate about. Give a prize to the best one, even if it’s just bragging rights. You can talk and argue about anything under the sun; from the best Pinoy street food to the wildest conspiracy theories.
Whether you enjoy trivia/quiz nights or going on a rampage on Call of Duty, there are plenty of multiplayer games to choose from. There are also mobile apps that allow in-app video calling as you play, like Houseparty, where you’ll be saved from the hassle of using another application.
We’re all slowly turning into couch potatoes during this period of quarantine but we must not forget about our health. Even if it’s as simple as stretching twice a day or squeezing in a quick ten-minute workout. However, chances of not doing it are high when you’re doing it alone. Not everyone’s as disciplined, okay. Working out with your partner, even virtually, can be fun too! You can even have a competition of who can hold a plank the longest.
You’ve probably heard of “e-numan”. Why don’t you make it better with “club quarantine”? It’s like the typical dance nights you enjoy in your room as you listen to your favorite artists, but this time with your S.O. and friends. Since we can’t go to bars or clubs yet, bring the experience to your room. Without the random people who ask you for “cheers”, though.
Several iconic museums from around the world now offer free virtual tours. No need to book a flight to Paris to see the Mona Lisa at The Louvre, because now you can access the world’s largest art museum at home. If you’re a fan of the arts or simply want to learn about history, virtual museum tours are one for the books.
Make your weekly catching up with your partner or barkada by inviting an animal to your call! Yes, animals can have cameos on Zoom now too. Sweet Farm is a Californian animal sanctuary that gives people from around the world the opportunity to have a cow, llama, or any farm animal during calls. It’s not only a unique experience; you also get to help these farm animals live healthily through donations. You can opt for simply hanging out with them or take a tour of their sanctuary.
