‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’ (2026) Film Review: A Sequel That Doubles Down on the Chaos

Mar 25, 2026   •   Meryl Medel

What if you survive a hellish night only to find yourself in the same nightmare again in just a few days? Ready or Not 2: Here I Come delivers on that premise, and here are our thoughts.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

Picking up exactly where the first film ended, after surviving an all-out attack from her in-laws, Grace MacCaullay Le Domas finds herself in another nightmarish game. Now, four families are hunting her to claim power over the world, and she must survive until dawn, all while protecting her estranged sister Faith.

Our thoughts on Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come starts right where the first film left off, and despite the deaths of all but one character in the first film, the world-building was rich enough that there’s much to explore in this sequel that delivers a sharp follow-up that balances its bloody chaos with surprisingly grounded themes.

In Ready or Not 2, the audience is introduced to a whole lineup of new characters, and each character feels purposeful, with the cast doing justice to their roles in a way that elevates both the tension and the comedy.

Samara Weaving as a final girl (for the second time around) takes the character trope to a new level, combining a vulnerability brought about by trauma and a relentlessness to survive into the ultimate survivor girl.

Joining Weaving as her estranged sister is Kathryn Newton, and their dynamic as sisters enriched the character development. As the film’s second final girl, she serves to semi-subvert the trope and leave the series open to more pathways to expand from.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Shawn Hatosy as twins is a fun combo we didn’t know we needed. We wish they had more banter, more screentime, more everything. (We’d watch a prequel about these twins, to be honest.)

The humor lands naturally thanks to witty quips and well-timed cuts. Like in what we believe to be the best fight scene: the pepper spray incident (no spoilers!). It’s funny without trying too hard.

Beyond the laughs and thrills, it weaves in family issues and reconciliation, adding emotional weight without slowing the pace. The relationship arcs of the families (particularly the sisters and the twins) make an interesting contrast when seen side by side.

And even though we know it’s coming, just when we think we’ve braced ourselves, the characters still blowing up out of nowhere still manage to shock every single time.

The ending left us satisfied, providing a conclusion and not leaving us on a cliffhanger.

Our verdict: Watch it or skip it?

We say watch it for a fun time!

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come knows exactly what it wants to be: a fun, well-rounded sequel that expounds on an intriguing final-girl storyline while remaining true to its goal to entertain the audience.
