Trying food from new places can be a bit of gamble. Sure, you want to venture out of your comfort zone and discover new things, but what if your order turns out to be all hype instead of all sarap? This very dilemma is what GrabFood’s new miniseries is all about. Hosted by the internet’s very own mima Sassa Gurl, the Totoong Sarap Series has our fabulous host and hilarious guests give their honest reviews of dishes from small businesses on GrabFood Indie Eats. Here are just a few highlights from the show.
In the latest episode, Sassa Gurl was joined by teleserye legends Jean Garcia and Gladys Reyes. Known for their iconic kontrabida roles, we could count on them to give their pinaka-pranka foodie opinions.
But NGL, we were on the edge in the beginning cause things were low-key tense…
Thankfully for our nerves, it wasn’t long before even Jean Garcia herself couldn’t resist laughing at Sassa Gurl’s hilarious antics.
When you’re in a room with legendary teleserye kontrabidas, there’s really one thing you have to do: reenact their most *~iconic*~ scenes, complete with sabunutan and sampalan.
They did not hold back.
(Just so you know: Sassa Gurl loved every second of this, don’t worry. TBH, we would be honored kung na-boogie wonderland din kami ni Jean Garcia at Gladys Reyes.)
The face-slapping and hair-pulling were worth it in the end, because by the end of the episode, Sassa Gurl had passed the kontrabidas’ vibe check and even got admitted to their group chat. It didn’t hurt that they all bonded over the all sarap dishes from GrabFood Indie Eats. Food really does bring people together!
In the series’ second episode, Sassa Gurl shared the studio with four actual nakshies, who put her mima mama powers (as well as her English-spokening skillz) to the test. It was chaotic, to say the least.
There were many distracting toys…
Several “here comes the airplane” moments…
And even a random dance number, because why not?
The studio was already full of so many distractions for the kiddos, but 5-year-old Raine had an extra tough time staying on topic because her Tito Erwan was in the studio! (JFYI: The series was produced by Erwan Heussaff’s agency The Fat Kid Inside.)
Let’s be real, who wouldn’t be excited to see Erwan in the studio?
The struggle was real.
Cue Tiktok sound: I wanna go0oo0oOoo home…
Having the super kulit energy in the studio was worth it in the end, because we didn’t just get the cutest mukbang footage, we got the most reliable reviews as well. After all, children are known for their brutal honesty, and these kiddos certainly weren’t afraid to speak their minds.
The cute chikitings got to try out dishes and drinks from GrabFood Indie Eats merchants and everything was a hit. This just goes to show that Indie Eats merchants live up to their high reviews. They’re not all hype, they’re ALL SARAP!
