Signs You’re the Black Sheep of the Family

Apr 11, 2017   •   Baxter Jacinto

Sometimes, there’s that one family member who’s branded as the ‘black sheep’, the one that brings disgrace to the family–an outcast that has either committed something bad or fails to live up the standards of his/her respective family.

If you’re wondering where you stand, here are a couple of signs that you might actually be the black sheep of the family.

People wait for you to commit a mistake

Via Giphy

You feel like people are waiting for you to commit a mistake which they can then use to scrutinize you – especially your parents.

Family dinners are toxic

Via Giphy

There will always be a time in the dining table where your family members will bring up a past mistake or indiscretion which they use to criticize you.

You are warned by your family

Via Giphy

Your family will tell you not to embarrass them in public, or when with other relatives; as if you’re bound to intentionally do it.

Deciding the future is confusing

Via Giphy

Your chosen career path will also be scrutinized. You will be questioned if you’re capable of doing such things –which leaves you feeling you’re being forced to choose what you consider something mediocre.

 Romance also sucks for you

Via Giphy

Not only is your career questioned,  your romantic interests is also a hot topic for your family members.

You’re always at the center of an argument

Via Giphy

You’re the designated and liable dummy/punching bag.

Efforts are useless

Via Giphy

No matter how hard you try to prove them wrong, they’ll never appreciate it.

You feel like you’re not part of the family

Via Giphy

The worst feeling is that feeling that you’re not really a member of the family, but someone that your family members are forced to live with every day.
