You go to a makeup store and you can’t help yourself. You swatch the lipsticks and the whole afternoon, you’re going around the mall with swatches on your arm. To the smart aleck who will say “why don’t you remove it,” it’s not as easy as that. Some, like MAC Cosmetics’ Retro Matte formula, leave a stain that only a good scrubbing can get rid of.
Besides, it secretly feels good to see all of those colors!
This is a true story. You line up outside a shopping mall and take a number to get the chance to buy a lipstick or two from a limited edition collection. You’re #5. When it’s your turn, there’s nothing left.
You’re friends with a brand’s in-store makeup artists so they can reserve limited edition items for you. You give them gifts so you’re okay with them until their bosses put an end to it. Yes, this is another true story.
When that liquid lipstick, which looked so good on those Instagram influencers, is so drying on you that it appears like you have colored dandruff on your lips.
Lesson: Liquid lipsticks are not for everyone. If your lips are very dry, it’s best to moisturize and exfoliate before applying. Or better yet, look for a formula that’s forgiving, like Kat Von D Beauty’s.
