From the sweet country girl that sang about sneaking out late and tapping on her crush’s window to the artist of the decade. Taylor Swift’s sweet country girl persona is long gone and is replaced by a strong independent woman who is not afraid to speak up for her rights.
Instead of focusing on her long list of ex-lovers and famous feuds, let’s look back at her most iconic moments this past decade.
If you didn’t have this song on your MP3 player or iPods back in 2008, you heard it everywhere you went. “Love Story” was the song of the year during 2008, and the album Fearless was number one on the Billboard 200 charts for 11 non-consecutive weeks. This skyrocketed Taylor Swift’s international success, and the rest is history.
In 2010, 20-year-old Taylor won Album of the year for Fearless. This made her the youngest artist to receive the award. Later that year she also released her third album Speak Now with the first single “Mine”. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts, making it Swift’s second consecutive chart-topper. Speak Now was also included in Rolling Stone’s list of 50 Best Female Albums of All Time.
Through her success, Taylor never forgets to give back. Back in 2011, she donated $70,000 worth of books at her hometown library. Fans have also shared stories of Swift’s generosity. In 2015, she sent $1989 to one fan that needs to pay off her student loans. She also helped fellow singer Kesha after the singer lost her case against Dr. Luke. These are just some stories of how generous Swift really is.
Taylor Swift got to perform at the famous fashion show for two years in a row! We still remember how she rocked the runway back in 2013 and 2014, we still recall how all eyes were on her as she sang and walked on the runway. If we didn’t know who Taylor was, we could’ve easily mistaken her as a Victoria’s Secret model.
In 2016 Taylor Swift became the first woman to win Album of the Year twice, and during her acceptance speech, she made a powerful message. She declared that women should never let anyone bring them down, that even though people will try to get in the way of their success, in the end, they are the ones who worked hard to get to where they are.

Taylor voiced out her dismay about Scooter Braun acquiring Big Machine Label Group that owns Swift’s music catalog. In a Tumblr post, she called out Scott Brochetta the CEO and founder of Big Machine, taking advantage of the end of their working relationship. Just last month, Taylor claimed that Braun and Brochetta won’t let her perform her old songs which will affect her performance at the American Music Awards. In the end, she was able to perform her past songs, but their feud is far from over.
During this year’s American Music Awards, Taylor was recognized as the Artist of the Decade. (It’s what she deserves. — Editor) She also performed her past hits while wearing a Polo adorned with all her past album titles. During her acceptance speech, she praised legendary singer Carole King who handed her the award. She also thanked her family, and of course her fans who are the reason why she’s on stage.
Taytay has grown leaps and bounds over the last decade, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll come up with in now that she’s 30, flirty, and fabulous. Happy Birthday Queen!
