‘Disney On Ice’ Is the Kind of Family Bonding That Feels Worth the Holiday Chaos

Dec 28, 2025   •   Angeli De Rivera

December has a way of testing a mother’s patience. The traffic feels heavier, the malls louder, the days shorter, but somehow more exhausting. There were moments—stuck bumper to bumper, weaving through holiday crowds—when I wondered if we should have stayed home instead. But motherhood has taught me this: some memories are worth the mess it takes to make them. And that night, as we finally arrived at Disney On Ice in the SM Mall of Asia Arena, I knew we had chosen right.

A private suite, a shared dream

The author’s daughter, having the time of her life watching her favorite characters glide on ice.

I had a surprise for my daughter: we were going to watch Disney On Ice, this time, from a private suite, and it felt like stepping into a softer, calmer version of the holidays. Away from the rush, we had space to breathe, to sit comfortably, to take it all in without distraction. For my daughter, it meant uninterrupted wonder—eyes wide, feet swinging, heart ready. For me, it wasn’t just the convenience of knowing that we can order food from our seats; it also meant being fully present for my little one.

Enjoying the show from a private suite meant we could relax and even order meals.

The lights dimmed, the music swelled, and suddenly the world outside disappeared. No traffic. No to-do lists. Just ice, music, and magic.

When fairy tales glide across the ice

One by one, the characters she knows by heart came to life—led by none other than Mickey Mouse himself, joined by Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto, welcoming everyone into the magic with familiar faces and playful charm.

Aladdin and Jasmine soared across the ice, their story unfolding with effortless grace. Rapunzel spun and twirled, her hair as radiant as my daughter’s smile. Cinderella and Prince Charming glided hand in hand, while Snow White reminded us of gentler, simpler tales.

And then there was Tinkerbell—tiny but mighty—sprinkling just enough pixie dust to make the night feel lighter. Each scene felt like a page from her bedtime stories slipping into real life, right before her eyes.

The magic didn’t stop with the classics. The arena erupted when Lightning McQueen and Mater raced onto the ice, and I laughed as my daughter cheered just as loudly as the kids half her age. Then came the vibrant colors and rhythms of Encanto as sung by Mirabel and the Madrigals, filling the space with music, movement, and familia.

Frozen 2 followed, icy and emotional, with songs that had the entire audience singing along. And when Moana appeared—brave, determined, sailing across the ice—I caught my daughter leaning forward, as if she too was ready for her own great adventure.

Somewhere between applause and encore bows, I looked at my daughter. Her face was glowing—not from the lights, but from pure joy. The kind that can’t be bought, only felt. In that moment, every inconvenience faded. The long drive, the crowds, the seasonal stress—they all felt small compared to the enormity of her happiness.

Gratitude beyond the curtain call

As we headed home, tired but full, I felt deeply grateful not just for the show, but for the chance to experience it this way—unrushed, special, memorable.

This magical evening was made possible with our Metrobank Credit Card, whose pre-sale perks opened the door to experiences like this. Having early access meant securing great seats without the usual holiday rush or stress, turning what could have been a logistical challenge into a seamless plan. It’s a quiet kind of privilege—one that transforms everyday moments into lasting memories, and special occasions into truly unforgettable experiences.

Metrobank credit card’s access to exclusive events means fewer worries and more moments that matter—moments that turn an ordinary holiday season into something unforgettable.

And as my daughter drifted off to sleep in our car on our way home, still clutching her favorite Disney character, I knew this was one memory we’d carry long after the ice melted.

When not playing with her baby girl, Angeli loves to just chill with J-Indie and City Pop tracks. A food editor for more than a decade, she still can’t stand cucumber, okra, and avocado. She has, however, made her peace with cilantro — sometimes.
